Becki - update on Hannah?

Could be she's leaking a tiny amount of milk/colostrum which is making her udders sticky?
Thanks for the Nedz Bedz recommendation - do you use the Original or the other one?
Good luck tonight! **sends double vodka across**

well i see no foal yet then... Your caravan idea is a good one I am now on the case for one! In my humble experience mares usually foal between 2 and 5am so I'm putting money on 0230. What day? Hmm, well they don't always wax up but it sounds to me like she might have a couple of days to go yet, I'm going for Friday 0230! Beckie I bet you are hoping I'm wrong!

I use the Nedz Bedz Pro one... it was the one that stud recommended to me because I didn't want to use straw as I am allergic to it (I come out it a rash and look as though I have slit my arms) and also the stuff we have at the yard is very dusty which I did not think would be any good for Mum or baby.

Twig - I hope you are wrong! That means four more nights in the caravan...

I honestly don't know when she will have it. I have totally given up trying to guess when she will have it. Some mares wax up, others don't. Some run milk, others don't. Some sweat up, some don't... it's like a mine field trying to watch for the signs.

What I do know is that Hannah's bag is extremely full and hot, still has the strange smell, and was sticky this morning. It also has something in the ends of the teats that was not there when she came in this morning (just nipped up to check on her on the way home) but it is not yellow as I believe Colostrum is.

She also looks as though she has deflated... in fact she looks less in foal today than she did last week which is slightly worrying to me

That will probably be the foal changing position. They will often get down and grunt about and sweat a bit when this happens. I have had false alarms before with that!

Once I was sitting up with a mare who I had been up with for two nights - On night 3 I thought that I would feed the other horses before I got her in from the field. She was happily waiting by the gate then and when I went back half an hour later there was a new arrival! Saved me some sleep anyway! (Must say out of the ones I have known this is very rare!)

Good luck tonight xxx

Thanks... it has definitely moved because like I say she now looks less in foal than she did last week. I will try to take some photographs of her tonight when I go back in a bit and put them on here while I have my tea.

Just out of interest, how are you managing to monitor things on your laptop? I wanted to do that, I set my hubby the task of finding out how to do it, but he said I couldn’t . Bummer! Don’t you need a phone line to view via your web cam and laptop? Or how did you do it with the CCTV camera, can you get wireless ones? Sorry….

I have a wireless camera and screen... it's a Trailer Vision one (they have a website) and I have the camera in her stable and the screen, which is only small, in my caravan just outside the stable. You can put it onto a TV but I think that's about it...
