My horse is currently on straw but he eats it and he's very wet so looking into changing.

You can get a few types - the one I recommend the most is the Excel (chopped straw and shavings). It fluffs up a good 1/3 more than shavings and IMO is much more absorbant too. I use a bale a week for my 12x14 stable (thick bed 3 banks).
