hello
just wondering, in particular shavings, but also other good horse bedding (dust free). where the best suppliers were, and other companys are.
we have contacted Bed-Down and also "chapmans quality bedding" from stradbroke -anyone know what their shavings are like???

we want to but a pallet load or so and can pick up. Just having difficulrty finding the suppliers/producers, any insight would be great:)

also interested in other things such as hemp/wood chip-like easibed.

any opinions would be fantastic

Where are you near to?

The latest thing around us, seems to be Bliss bedding, which is made from the remainder of oil seed rape, once the rape seed is extracted.
We can get it locally for 4.80 for a single bag.
Some of the liveries are using it as an alternative to shavings, it seems more absorbent.

I use megazorb its expensive £4.25 a bag you need about ten for initial bed but I love it.No horrible urine smells just pick the poo out and a small amount of wet once a week.If you are interested I pick mine up from Harleston area found site on google they do other products too .I can check email site for address if u are interested.

thanks we have just orderd a load from bedown now which seem to be the cheapest around, and we can get vat back so is actually not too bad!!
i did think about megaziorb but i actually didnt really like it when my friend was using it!!

thanks very much for your suggestions!

We use Bed-down's Excel - they deliver 50 bales at a time and we have been using it for ages. The only one it doesn't suit is Tilly who pees for England, so I am trying her on Easibed at the mo and so far, so good. Tried Megazorb before but it went rather dusty.

I use Bedmax and pay £4.90 a bale from Lincs Forage (that's delivered too) only buy 10 at a time though so may be cheaper if you bought a pallet load

Ecobed. i've used it for years, it is chopped up cardboard. very warm, no dust at all (have a look at the spore and dust result charts from the independent scientific testing, quoted on their website) www.ecobed.co.uk
i use it on top of rubber mats (not that they're necessary) and it is absolutely brilliant. the individual pieces don't break down, unlike shavings, so dust is negligible. it is also very absorbent.
