I'm sure this has been done to death but my iPad isn't letting me search, has anyone got any good recommendations for bedding for a horse who is very wet in roughly the same place (1/3-1/2 of her bed) every night and kicks her poo around into little balls at times too.

She's in a standard 12x12 stable, with a hay bar at the front and (currently) a shavings bed at the back on rubber matting.

If she wees in same place I would put a layer of wood pellets underneath shavings and start to build a base - my gelding can be v wet and I started with a wood pellet base n replaced shavings with wood pellets gradually, his bed is now mainly pellets n I just skip poo every day n put approx 2 bags in a week.

I have one of those... a proper deep litter straw was ok however I have found this amazing rape straw stuff. I think it's called equinola from mole valley but there are a few other rape straw bedding makes. Bedrap, is one I think.

I use it just like a deep litter straw bed, it's about 6 inches deep and covers the whole 12x12 area once it's been knitted in it is hard to move. She is terrible at box-walking when excited and she is only 3 so does go through some trashing.

The wet I just let sink in and leave to create an even more secure bed (I don't use rubber mats) and remove poo by hand. A shavings fork doesn't really work. However, it does make mucking out very quick.

Pellets were awful for me. Too soft and powdery and she dug it up.

I use equinola. She gets 1/3 of her stable square at the back. Also have mats.

Muck out daily wet as well. Works really well. I found two bales makes the bed the right depth for me. I am fine with a future fork.

Other mare is v v tidy and has one bale per two weeks with wet taken out fortnightly.
