At this rate our lot will be on plain rubber

We started with cardboard which I loved

First lot was ecobale, Rang them direct but they told me I had to go through their agaent whcih I can't name as I don't want to be sued but please feel free to PM me!!!!!!
So first lot was delivered throught their South East Agent - no problems. So now down to 10 bales so rang and ordered some more, had heard some dodgy things so when they said they needed payment rather than cash on delivery I was concerned but played safe and paid on our barclaycard.

Was given 4 different delivery dates and eventually got 25 out of a 60 bale order delivered the day before Christmas Eve. The remaining 35 bales have never arrived and I have rung and rung and asked for a refund etc!!!! It is now in the hand sof Barclaycard

Contacted Ecobed who delivered two pallets, they are smaller bags and you have to pay a fuel surcharge but I really like cardboard so it's not a problem.

Placed a provisional order for two pallets but then decided I wanted 3 and was told there is a 5 week wating list!

So they can honour my initial order but my extra pallet will have to be a seperate order and if its 5 weeks I'll have to make it a massive order

So in panic mode I decided to order some shaving from my local reputable supplier - can't have any shavings delivered.

So I had no option but to collect them in my car - I got 5 in Hyundai Getz and ended up doing two trips

Seriously though - what the hell is everyone else doing ?

Our straw is about to run out at the yard, I have managed to find a man with some straw and have reserved 50ish bales but I have to confirm by the end of next week. After that I have no idea what to do.

You cannot get shavings round here anymore without either taking 3 bales max or paying £10 a bale. The more worrying thing is that noone else on the yard seems to have a plan of action.

babe pm me the dealer i think i know who you might mean !!!

I have changed to Wood Pellets - if you are around my area feel free to pop in and have a look and get some to try with a bed XX

I don't have any problems. At my local feed merchant they always have aubiose and various other makes of shavings for sale. I personally buy Hemcore by the pallet from Thorogoods. I live in Surrey. Sometimes I have to wait a week if they don't have any in stock, but I don't have any problems getting bedding.

Heard quite a few people are using this now so am on half-term next week so might drop in if that's OK?

So annoyed - he is still advertising in Pegasus as well which is a JOKE!

I've found the same with Ecobed from a local supplier in Kent (pm me for details if you like) but it's now gone up to £5.20 collected! Think I will be filling the lorry up at the weekend!

ecobed told me a 3 week wait but it arrived in 2. they are having big problems with sourcing raw materials, their driver told me. if you ring them and say you're desperate, they might drop a pallet off if they're in your area, they've helped me out a lot of times before!

Have you tried "Beddown" ? It's a mixture of shavings and chopped straw and is treated so it's unpalatable. I think it's excellent, easy to use, absorbs well & is economical. I put half a bale in every 3 (occassionally 4) days. I find putting it in half a bale at a time works best. I get it from a supplier near Banbury, Oxon, but it actually comes from Norfolk I think. Last time I picked up a trailer load and it was about £5.00 per bale (usually less the more you buy).

I'm in Cheshire and bed down on shavings. We buy 2 pallet loads at a time, about 70 bales. No problems with supply here although they are expensive, I think we paid around 7 quid for the last load in November.

we have had shavings deliveries in the past month from gillet and cook and speedgate with no issues - they aren't brnaded as such(eg hunter etc) but have been of a good enough quality for us to use. Frogpool also got hold of 150 bales for us at the start of the winter and delivered but not sure what their situation is at the moment
