Bedding Recommendations for a Large Yard

At the moment we have 17 loose boxes just built, and another 33 on the way.
They are mainly going to be for full livery clients (this is where I work, not my own!), and we are trying to work out the best bedding to have.

We want clients to have the option of straw or something else - shavings etc.

Obviously we will be buying in bulk, and have plenty of storage space.

We will do a full muck out every day, and probably not have any rubber matting down.

So, recommendations anyone?

Depends on how much you want to spend and therefore be able to pass on to your liveries.

Wood pellets are cheapest and very quick to skip out and although good are not the nicest looking bed.

Aubiouse/Hemcore are good but expensive.

Shavings seem to be getting more expensive.

I haven't tried paper / cardboard but they may be worth considering.
 
I'd go for straw, which is cheap and easy to use, and works better without matting. Offer shavings or something anti allergy if clients want it. You maywell find that people bring their own mats - seems to happen at a lot of yards. When we did livery our clients were surprised when they didin't have to bring their own!
 
Sundown Yellow is very nice, both to look at and to use, dust extracted I think with a clean eucalyptus smell and I would prefer that to shavings myself.
Just a thought but will you be having a seperate block of stables for straw beds just in case other liveries should have a dust problem?
 
I have found large bale straw cheapest and a deep straw bed always looks nice but we also like the liverpool wood pellets excellent once you learn how to manage them and you should use one or two bags a week per box although we used one a week and sprinkled neds bedz or shavings whatever was cheapest just on top each day to make it look nicer ,the pellets are also great under other bedding to soak up wet .
 
We use wood pellets they are cheap when brought in bulk too.

Paper is ok but gets very heavy when wet. Doing lot s of beds of that is a killer.
