The new stables I am at have sealed rubber matting and my horse has COPD so needs dustless bedding. I have to use woodchips/similar for bedding (not straw) as part of my rental agreement. I bought some CWG bedding (a bit like easibed) and put some down for him to wee on. The problem is that it does not seem very absorbent so the wee just lies about on the floor in a sort of slurry with the bedding that it touches.

Can anyone recommend something more absorbent?

Hi Parsley, take it the move went ok?
Are you allowed to use Dixon's Dustless? It is dust extracted chopped straw and is really absorbant and absorbs wee really well. The stuff you bought from CWG is good if you put enough down - Ryan was on it when he came home from the vets (on rubber matting) The other stuff I have used is Bed-down excel and it was great ,it is a mixture of shavings and chopped straw.

if you need dust free it has to be carboard, its not dusty before they make it so after they dust extract it aswell there is no trace. Thats why i use it for this reason

Can you get megazorb? Very good as it is not dusty and really soaks up the pee. Used it on Chancer and am going to use in on Farra who I have a horrible feeling is going to be a very piddly mare when she comes in soon.

Have you thought about cardboard bedding. I've used it in the past and loved it. Absorbent, virtually no dust when you shake the bed up and makes warm bed too.
