I have had my horse on Hunter Shavings for the last year or so and have found that they have become more dusty over time and the price in my area (Hertfirdshire/Bedfordshire) has increased to £9.50 a bale and im using 1.5 bales a week. I have put him back onto straw and he's now started to snack on this at night and it really makes me smell before work ha ha
Does anyone have any bedding they use and love?
I have tried Eco bed too which was ok and was thinknig of going back onto this at £5 a bale but i wanted to know what else is out there
I want one that doesnt smell as much as straw and doesnt cost a lot hmmmm am i being realistic ha ha

Hi there, must admit, done the same as yourself. Was on shavings for quite a while but mucking out was slow and at the current cost of straw, it certainly makes more sense to put on that and personally speaking, I can muck out at half the time so will save you if you are trying to do before work! Hope you find what works out best for you, do let us know what you find :-)

I've been using Bliss (chopped rape straw) for around 3 years. It's great - I use 1 bale per week in the winter and 1 every other week in the summer (horse can access her stable 24/7). It's very absorbent and easy to clean out - I dig out once/week, skip out daily and only remove the very, very wet bits on a daily basis if required! I have rubber stable mats btw and my mare is very wet!

A pallet of 40 bales delivered from H.O.E. Country Feeds cost £7.08/bale inc VAT.

Good value I think and they stack all the bales for you too!
