Apologies in advance for the long boring post
well done if you get to the end!! :P

Before i got my mare she had lived out but really does not do well in the winter ( She's a TB)
I tried to winter her out last year but didn't suit her, she isn't botherd but i found it soooo hard to keep weight on.
I started bringing her and she is okay, dosent like being left in for ages but thats okay as she comes in relativley late and out early morning definatly before 7.30-8.
Problem is i have no idea what she does over night but all her bed is always pushed to the sides.

Were not aloud to rubber mat the whole stable :| so i cant do that, i have tried shaving and straw but neither make a difference.

Her rug is never slipped and shes never hot/swetty so i don't think she panics

Any ideas what to do?

For an idea for you, i have just been trying the wood pellets, i never would have even thought of trying the stuff, i love my paper bedding, but my my yearling being a baby moves around alot plus has locking stifles so you can imagine with his peg legs by the morning the bed used to be every where but with the pellets it forms a base and does not get down to the floor he only has rubber mats at the front, it does take some getting used to (i did hate it to start with) and to work out how often you need to take a layer of wet out, i do it more than they say as i found it smelt too much, but im happy with it now and its the most bizare thing to water a bed!

have you tried to deep litter? as this wld form a base that wouldnt easily be moved around. need to use/have a mass of bedding to start it off tho and it just compacts down and you add more on the top. quick and easy to clean too.

my mare has a party every night but now she has soooo much bedding that it doesnt matter and she never gets thro to the concrete floor
