What do people use for bedding?

My horse is surrently on straw with rubber matting underneath but he is quite messy and is eating the bed, despite having plenty of hay.

Was thinking of changing to shavings or aubiose.

Any suggestions welcome.

Aubiose stays nice and dry on top, better than shavings but its quite expensive and you need a fair bit to make a decent bed though

I use cardboard bedding. Great for COPD sufferers.
I found ecobale to be the best. No dust, cheap and good sized bales.

I have used shavings, straw, aubiose and newspaper and my favourite is paper. Its dust free, they don't eat it, it absorbs the wee well and you can just pick the poo out. Had some very messy horses on paper and it was much easier than shavings and straw. Plus it's cheap and rots down quickly.
