Can anyone tell me if you can use hardwood shavings for bedding?

i dont see why not, i no of people using card board shavings (seems bloody stupid) but they do use them

Not very absorbent,can be dusty,not a good smell. Were all points I found on using it.

do not use red shavings...as they can be carcenogenic....

you can use hardwood shavings but they are dusty and go blackish when wet (peed on!) but if you have a horse with a cut on his legs or the lovely seasonal mud fever the cuts/abrasions will go manky with the hardwood. i wouldnt use it on its own, better if mixed in with good shavings or used as a bank bulker! havent heard of them being carcinogenic though..
