Just out of interest. If horses are not stabled 24/7. Say the stable in question was large and for 3 horses so more of a small open type barn thing. An they can come and go as they please. Do you think bedding is required?

Mine eat straw :( we had shavings down. But the weekly clear out was back breaking. And I seem to have messy horses. Whole lot gets soaked. Hmm

O use chopped straw, but I brush left over (not dusty) hay into her bed. Take wet out most days. No problems, no coughing etc

we have this kind of arrangement - ours go inside to pee and poo which is probably what yours are doing too! that's why its so wet. we have rubber mats in ours and then just a thin layer of straw. shelter is mucked out daily.

Hmmm, do have have access to haylage/hay as well? might be less inclined to eat the straw with ad lib forage. Or full muck outs everyday with shavings.

They do have haylage yes. They've been in over night. Obv I have no idea what they thought haha. It's huge as well this stable/shelter thing. Would take such a lot to cover he base. Hmm
