What is Bedford area like for horses?Husband may apply for a job there, no idaes what would it be like for Wooley. In the Highlands now, used to be in Bucks. Happy hacker.
I can only tell you about 2 bits:
South of Bedford around Wilstead - Good riding school & another livery yard. A couple of good long hacks but shorter routes ar naff & a lot of road work.
North East corner, the border area with Cambs & Northants. Nice villages, great hacking - people actually come on hacking holidays here, Keysoe round the corner. A few livery yards around Keysoe. Generally a very horsey area. But yrads generally quite expensive. I have my 3 split over 2 yards & am trying to get somewhere for all 3 & at the weekend I was quoted £30 per week DIY, no school & in the 1 village in the area with rubbish hacking. Keysoe are £35 per week (I think) but you have all the facilities. Generally you are looking £25- £30 per week DIY though there are exceptions.
I live in Keysoe and keep my horse in the village. It's great, lots of off-road hacking and the roads are not too bad. Equestrian centre on doorstep that has lots going on. I would come to North Beds and have a drive around to get a feel for the place.
Best of luck.
