Hiya,

Anyone going this weekend? And to anyone who knows the course is there a big jump up from the 2ft6 to the 2ft9? Anyone got any pics? I've entered for both, but it will be my first 2ft9 with this pony and although we have been hunting all season and jumping 4ft+ hedges without a worry in the world I seem to have lost my confidence in recent weeks and am worried I'm going to be pushing myself too much!!

Thank you for any help/advice!!

Emily xx

From what I have seen of the course it is fairly straightforward and if your pony can do 4ft hedges he will have no probs.

Bedgebury does have a website so try that for pics.

I am not going cos I wasn't organised enough to get an entry in on time - boo hoo!

She'll be fine, she just doesn't understand why mum is suddenly being all tense and silly!! I've entered for both as we're more then capable of doing the 2ft9, and the 2ft6 should therefore be a nice warm up, I just hope my nerves hold out!!

I know it well - used to do every one when I lived in the area. The course is very kind and there is nothing too big but still asks a few questions. There are steps, water, coffin, corner (with a slower alternative) trakehner, owl hole etc. Very good educational course - wish I was going

I did go, despite the pouring rain & wind, and the fact that when I walked the course on Sunday my heart was sinking with every jump!! However... was well worth the effort and the cold... I came third in both the 2ft6 and the 2ft9 classes!!

The courses weren't big but they did ask quite a lot of questions, lots of doubles and skinnies, and double skinnies

and jumping light into dark/dark into light... was so so pleased with my pony as she's much more a big and bold course kinda girl than a technical sort your feet out in the slippery mud kinda girl, so she did really well

What are you up to in the next couple of weeks Vicki? And I keep meaning to ask you are you a member up at Warlingham? Only I keep meaning to send our forms off to become members but as there doesn't appear to be much on over the summer months (not that I can see) I was thinking of holding off until september renewals and do it in time for the mock hunts - any advice?

oh fabulous well done that is great !! i will have to go to the next one sounds like my kind of course i am more small and technical than big and bold!!

I have speedgate sponsored ride for breast cancer on saturday should be fun, and very pink. other than that not much a few shows perhaps. i could do with a hunter trial if you hear of anything ??

i am not a member of warlingham im going to hold off for now - havent decided on the winter plans yet to be honest.... i really enjoy the mock hunts but the beginners ones arent really enough now and they only do 2 non beginner ones i think ?? i think we are thinking or going out with coakham this winter although i am a wee bit terrified of the big jumps but i will just have to get on with it i suppose. what else do you have coming up ??

Bedgebury was really nice, very well organised and a lovely course, comes highly recommended

I'm doing Borde Hill Hunter Trial this weekend - pairs with my boyfriend over the 3ft course - help!! Yet again hoping its not too big - although she managed the 2ft9 easily and will follow my boyfriends big grey over anything so fingers crossed!!

Other than that I'm hoping to do a bit of showjumping in the next couple of weeks, and the eventers challenge at warlingham at the end of the month.

We will definately do the mock hunts at warlingham over the winter so will be joining in september, just didnt know whether there were members things happening over the summer which may be worth joining for. The mock hunts are so different from hunting that they're nice to do, and I tend to have teenagers from our riding school with me as well so I'm really there as a supervisory adult (help!!) The Coakham's are also really fun to hunt with - and if you are worried by the size of the fences you can call the kennels beforehand and they can give you a good idea of which meets may be suitable. Did you go out with the OS&B at all this winter? I've had some brilliant hunting this winter with them, and again was so different from both the mock hunts and the coakham - I'm very happy to 'babysit' you if you fancy a day or two out with them
