I heard today that they have no plans to reopen their xc course for hire or any other kind of use. What a waste of a local venue it has become. No competitions any more, affiliated or unaffiliated, no more livery, no xc course, no riding lessons, no riding club any more. Such a shame and there was really no need for it to have ended this way. How long before it closes I wonder.

Agree - seriously limited in venues I can get to and that was accessible for me. Although I don't have a functional pony atm - there's always hope for the future !

So is it not in use at all anymore? Does anyone know why?

As far as I can gather it's only purpose now is hiring out the schools. There is no riding school now (wonder what happened to the horses), all the liveries were chucked out a few years ago (I was one of them) and there are no comps any more. There were rumours about non payment to BD by the owner which is why the aff dressage stopped, they got aff BS status but never held any, and there aren't even any unaff comps now. Such a waste - think what a success the livery yard could have been. All those facilities, there were comps every weekend, amazing hacking and a gallop field and the xc.....just don't get how it's possible to make something like that actually fail!

Sounds like it might be a tax write-off. Blue Barn have nowhere near the facilities but they are busy all the time. I imagine Bedgebury could be fantastic, never been there but seen many many pics of the place. What a waste.

What a shame, I was a livery there years ago, while the school was still open and it was a great yard, the best hacking I've ever had, lovely schools etc, never did have enough turnout though.

I can't believe they have stopped hiring the XC out - it was less than two years ago that they renovated the course and put in a whole load of new jumps!

It is a lovely venue, but I think they are focusing on developing the houses for holiday lets. A lot of work went into the renovation but as they no longer have a yard manager no one is looking after the fields for the xc or the yard, so its no longer in a fit state to higher out. The owner has other businesses and I assume its due to lack of time.
