Used it for ages - tried standard shavings, aubiose, cardboard, easibed, laysoft and nothing compares IMO - even OH's messy mare who was disgusting on mats only uses a bale a week, my clean gelding uses a bale every 10 days and the bonus is we only pay £5 a bale for it
I use it and absolutley love it my mare is so much cleaner on it then she is on other shavings and the bed looks nicer (I think so anyway). I pay about 6 quid per bale.
I love the smell of it and the look but dont like using it as my horse is too messy and it goes brown very quickly much prefer good quality shavings or Nedz Bed Pro.
Try Natural Flake, they are nearly as big as bedmax and the bales are bigger but more absorbent. Longer lasting beds than normal shavings and easier to muck out.
I use Bedmax - it's great! I find that the bed dosen't scatter as much as smaller shavings if the neds have been laying down and the beds stay a lot cleaner too!
oh to be back on bedmax, so easy to muck out. on straw now as far cheaper. used to love it as my mare was so clean on it seems to keep droppings reasonably together - i did mix 2-1 ratio with shavings though to help absorb wee, and i was on rubber mats.
Personally don't like it. A horse I do was on it and I found it quite hard ( crunchy ) and heavy to muck out. She now on Mendip ( sp) which makes a nicer fluffier bed, also stays white better than Bedmax.
Love them - he's had them 2+ years now and I think I have had really good value for money.
He's much cleaner and has gone from a horse that would work his poo into the bed to a horse that poos in the other half of his stable to look after his bedmax. He has a 24ft foaling box and only has a bed in half - the rest is his pooing place! Makes mucking out so much eaiser.
He always thanks me when I give him a new bale so must love them too!
