Having done a search of a topic that has been nearly been done to death, I can't quite find the information that might help and we've all got a bit of time to kill at the moment soooo...!

The time has come to upgrade Harvey's bed(s). He currently has 2 old Pets at Home beds similar to this: https://www.petsathome.com/shop/en/pets/pets-at-home-linen-gusset-grey-dog-mattress-large. The older one is now lumpy filling but lives downstairs and is used for about half an hour a day (and is the one we shove in the car for a longer journey and quite handy for that). The "newer" one (that's still 2 and a bit years old) is the one he sleeps on at night and is proper foam so isn't bad but would be nice to get him a proper bed (happy to get one and take upstairs/downstairs in mornings/evenings). Both current beds are approx 100 x 80 cm which seems to suit well. He is a 6yo Lab who doesn't chew/wee on/destroy beds. He likes to curl up a bit but most times he is flat out or on his back, legs akimbo! He's probably going to, eventually, be a dog who could do with a bit of extra support.

I've looked at:
I bet I've missed some but what d'ya reckon?

Here's a picture of His Majesty in return for your bed-based options!

I have the Zooplus bed and it's fab, really thick and supportive memory foam and bolsters, has withstood heavy use from two large hairy dogs, washes well and still looks new. It's several years old though and looking at the reviews the newer version might not be as good quality. Big shame if so, it's been a cracking bed. Might have a pic somewhere...

I was interested in Zooplus beds, but decided not to risk wasting the money after reading the reviews. It seems that the older beds were great quality and last for years, but the new ones are rubbish. Lots of people say that a folded duvet makes a great bed, and obviously the covers are easy to wash. That's what I'm about to give my boy, for extra comfort and warmth, on top of his current bed that came from my local market. It's great quality, well padded and was worth a lot more than the £20 I paid for it - the bed, not the duvet!

Look at them both! ❤️❤️❤️
The Zooplus ones just look like they're missing a bit now - such a shame. I remember looking at them when we first got H and they definitely looked more substantial. The reviews from repeat buyers who are now unsatisfied say a lot :(
I was thinking about replacing the stuffing in his current older bed with an old duvet as it's so lumpy!

My Spaniel has an Orvis upstairs which he does like and chooses to sleep on instead of the bottom of the bed - bonus! I did buy it in the sale though, because I’m not I could stomach the full price!

His Danish Design beds are both looking pretty tired and I’m not sure I’d recommended them.

My partner has just bought his Lab a Baavet one. It’s wool filled and seems really very comfortable, the dogs were all trying to lie in it ?

Wren, it's funny you should say that. Where they're so padded, I did wonder if they'd be too firm. At least there's moulding in foam. Also, where they're so rounded, I should think that not quite the whole bed, up to the edges, would be used, does that make sense? Thanks so much for link - they look fab and pretty much spot on what I'm looking for as it's a combination of them all in a way! This is why you ask HHO!

Britestar, that sounds good and I'll definitely keep an eye out for one as a spare! Don't think I'll be going near a shop like that for a while (hello level 4) but always good to know! Thanks!

My lab is about 29 kgs and the medium is plenty big enough. I haven't washed it, I don't think it would wash well but I've sponged it down.
I bought mine from Amazon, it was cheaper.

GG, I think I'll always look in the sale just in case, but yes, they're eye-watering... Thanks fir the Baavet suggestion - they look good too!

I have several Tuffies, the oldest must be 10 years old now and still going strong, it’s an original mattress. The others inconstant use are best, one wide clean and the other durasoft. The wipe clean ones are fab as easy to clean and can have covers on them. The durasoft seems to attract more hair and although scrubbable l‘d recommend it for ‘clean’ dogs not mud monstars.

I had one of those memory foam from zooplus and it was great. A shame if they’re not as good quality or long lasting now.
My friend has two Orvis beds and they look amazing but I couldn’t justify spending that much.
Mine have HiK9s with a fleecy cover and seem to like them.

We have Tuffies, 2 mattresses and 2 nests, we have the durasoft and the wipe clean, definitely prefer the wipe clean it is easier to clean and dries much quicker. We also have the luxury fleece covers. Our 2 JR's love the beds.

I've spent the last 3 weeks agonising over dog beds I feel your pain! Recently taken back care of the family dog who is starting to getting on a bit, our house is much colder than he's been used to so wanted something warm and supportive. Settled on this and seems good so far https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B085VC2RBN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_YSgTFb00Q48AN?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 seems to be a hit with him so far! I liked the fact you could get the teddy or fleece options for the top, some of the other memory foam beds I looked at appeared a little bit cold and clinical.

I have flatcoats so similar size to labs. They have Ivy and Duke beds and also HiK9s which are brilliant, so easy to look after, light to move and are just as supportive to the body as memory foam. So easy to remove the toppers which wash and dry quickly.
I would post photos but useless at it!
My daughter has a Tuffie, many years old, still in excellent condition but heavy to move from room to room if that is what you want to do.

Finally worked out how to multi-quote!

Have a look at George Barclay at www.georgebarclay.co.uk. Their sofa beds are fab.

These look lovely! I showed OH and she said "eh no" in response to the England flag but she's not the one buying so she might have to stick it. Anyway, Harvey has visited England and he loved it ???

Hello lovely doggy!

That's a good point actually. Next time near one, I'll pop in.

I haven't heard of HiK9s - I'll have a look! Thank you!

That's good to know actually as I was interested in if there were any real-life differences, other than functions - thank you!

Glad I'm not the only one. I'm an over-researcher as well. Terrible. I'll have a look at this - thank you.

That's a valid point about weight - thank you! Good to hear that these beds last a long time as well - that's the kind of thing I'm after!

Thanks everyone. Honestly, I nearly didn't post but I'm so glad I did!

The covers are removable, but I haven't removed them.

Agree with previous poster the tuffie my friend has, nest type, is very heavy.

I looked at loads and in the end went for mine due to great amazon reviews, thickness of foam and I made the decision to get a cheaper one if the foam flattened out I wouldn't be too upset.
Also my dog has arthritic elbows so I wanted a soft bed as I know my hips hurt with a firm mattress!

Bopth mine have tuffies, the GSD has a large durasoft and the smaller dogs have a small durasoft in their crate with the snuggle nest cover.

I cannot knock them, however the large one is heavy but I only move it to hose it down in the summer.

The tuffies nests have quite high sides, have to jump into them, but suppose it depends on the size of the dogs, mine are medium sized and look fine inside.
