Been at my yard for over 20 years and one by one my friends

It seems I have been fortunate in my return to the horsey world - the yard I am on has a number of older folk - oldest 63 - then 4 of us are 50 a couple of 30 year olds a handful of 20 year olds. We older ones ride together at weekends and then sit with sandwiches and coffee for a "picnic" afterwards or treat ourselves to rider friendly coffee/lunch/cake at a fab café/farm shop 1/4 mile from yard! And we ride after work in various combinations depending on who is available and I and one other who works part time ride every Friday/Monday morning. Its my daughter and the other 13 year old who lament not having enough folk their age to hang about with.

May be lots of riders who rode as athletic young people give up or lose interest over the years?

I am another isolated geriatric. Learned to ride late in life and never knew anyone else who still rode. When I shared, the liveries went out early and I was warned not to poach YO's friends. I hacked solo and loved it. Socially I still know no one who rides.
