Unfortunately, due to the current climate, i have been forced to sell up, horse, trailer, tack etc. etc :-(

I'm completely gutting and can't see buying another horse for a long time......

I have been invited by friend to help/ride their's, but I just can't face it...

I have struggled with getting the right horse for many years and found her in December 2010, but she's now gone... (to a lovely local home)...

I don't know what to do with myself and feel like I have no purpose :-(

Is anybody else in the same situation? How are you coping?

((((((((HUGS))))))))) all I can say is that things will improve. Its difficult when everythings at a low ebb and I personally think March is the worst month of the year anyway. Still, spring is on the way. I believe everything happens for a reason, even if we cant see it at the time. Who knows what this summer will bring? I think that helping friends with their horses is a good thing, maybe not right away if you cant face it,but sometime, probably sooner than you think. Chin up,lifes a rocky road but the good times are better for that.

Really sorry for you that you have had to sell up but I am pleased that your horse has gone to a good home - that will put your mind at rest.

Definately take up your friend's offer to ride/help with their horse. See if you can arrange a regular day each week and maybe offer to 'do' the horse that day in return for riding.

I have just had to do the same :( I had owned B since he was 3 so 5.5 years, I had been out of work for nearly 5 months and had no choice in the end. The day after I took him to the pro eventer who was selling him for me (couldn't face doing it myself) I got a job. It was too late though to stop me having to sell as I took a fairly big salary cut and would never have cleared my debts if I didn't sell. He has gone to an amazing home though and I am off to see him Sunday, they promise they will keep in touch and I think they will. It is hard and like you, it will be a while before I can afford something else but it was sell horse or lose my house - no choice really :(

I know exactly where you are coming from.... I think i may be loosing the house too...:-( everyone keeps saying it will be a fresh start....... not without a horse ...

I can sympathise - it looks like I'm going to have to sell the pony due to messy (and expensive) breakup with my ex. Im selling the 4x4 and the trailer but keeping the horse, tbh she has so many issues I couldnt pass her on anyway.

My really old tatty 4x4 is on ebay - I love it ! will be just as sad to see it go as the horse!

Sorry to hear this, its very difficult at the mo being a horse owner. Hopefully things will improve and you will be able to get back into ownership although this doesnt compensate for you having to sell your horse now I know

I cannot imagine having to face that choice. Hopefully things will improve and you'll find the joy of riding again with your friends help. Just take some comfort that your horse has found a loving home and is being cared for.

oh poor you, really feel for you. I would def take up friend offer when you are feeling better, and don't worry you will have horses in the future, if you are like your avatar says 'life without horses, is no life at all' you will end up with horses again, just consider this a small break whilst you get back on your feet. The tough economic climate is having a much bigger impact than people expected, and it is making things hard for many of us..

I'm so sorry for you. I'm struggling financially at the moment but not yet to the point you are at. I often think what I'd do if we really couldn't afford the horses anymore and I don't even ride, I am just the support crew for my daughter, I'd have a lot more money but I think it would break my heart. :( Hugs to you
