Been told about another dog !

Just been told about a cocker spaniel 13 months needing a new home, owner gone into rented accommodation.
Do I go to look or not ! Think perhaps too young for me and also for my old dog who is not amused by dogs that want him to play ! Had sort of told myself that me and old dog were fine and not to rock the boat, though this may be because of the cold and wet weather! Don't know if I have the patience either for a young dog . Blast I know I will have to go and look now Ive been told about him

You don't sound like you want a new dog or the work it will entail so why look?
At work if we get a stray in I get welcomed by 'we have a dog for you' because I have fostered and I teach dog training they think I want them all and will fix behaviours. I don't so I don't take them home but I do find good rescues to find homes for them.

Why go and look if you know you haven't the patience and doubt your other dog will be a fan.
Probably not fair on the dog if you don't really want him.

I agree that you need to have a serious think about this before you go and look at the dog. Chances are the dog will seem terribly cute and you will agree to take him on without necessarily thinking of the consequences. Be aware that people looking to rehome a dog are often feeling a bit desperate and can be a little economical with the truth in order to secure a new home. Given its breed it is likely to have high exercise needs which will still have to be sorted in this miserable weather. Settling into a new home and routine may trigger some house-training problems, and it may also suffer a bit with separation anxiety. Only go and view if you know you have the energy and patience to sort any of these problems out if they occur. If any of these are deal-breakers for you then please don't go and see the dog.

Have to agree with everyone else. This dog does not sound like the right one for you, for all the reasons you have pointed out.

Thanks all, actually I had come to the same conclusion! If and when I get another I really want an older dog. Several people know I lost a dog and they are trying to be helpful by keeping an ear out for dogs needing homes, someone else popped in a contact number this afternoon ! Im going to hold fire at least until the spring.
