Just found these old pics of me and Lisa, (Lola's mum), before I became a wuss and took up dressage and she became a broodmare!

Hope I can be brave again as I'd love to jump Lola one day!

Got old Mrs M! Just lost my bottle for no reason really. After I had my daughter I just got scared and converted to dressage. I do love it but would really like to get jumping again one day. Lisa is now a broodmare but I'm hoping her daughter will be a jumper one day!

Fingers crossed hun :D

I gave up when I met D and had kiddlettes, or rather I stopped getting back into it. A friend broke her elbow and couldn't pick her son up, same age as D1, and it scared me.

Now, I'm trying to make up for all those lost years....:cool::D

Lovely photos, another 'wuss' here! Its that fleeting thought I have sometimes as I trot round of "who will do the school run if I fall off ?" :)
Glad to hear there is a light at the end of the kiddy tunnel Mrs M.

Nope, if you do it as a general learning tool :D

My little dinkums knew what to do in an emergency (or as much as they could 'know', we never got to test it) from very young ages :). With D at work and me on my own with them so much it seemed sensible :D. They did want to practice though.... that was fun lol, finding ways without them upsetting the 999 peeps

Yeah, I'll often think, "I'd better teach J how to dial 999". Is that silly? She's 4 by the way. Would that scare her do you think?

No, my cousin, learnt what to do in an emergency from a very young age and had actually phone 999 for real before the age of four. It may well have saved her mum's life!

Not a riding situation, a mum with various health problems and disabilities. She was taught that she should dial 999 and then to press the speed dial button with a coloured sticker on it which phoned her grandparents.

I think that you can teach it in a way so as not to worry them, explain that it is what they should do if someone is very badly hurt and there aren't any grown ups to help.

Thanks guys. I think I'll discuss it with her and teach her what to do. We don't have any neighbours so I think it's important she knows what to do. Especially since my OH works away a lot. x

In that case I'd highly recommend the back up plan of speed dial to a friend/neighbour/grandparent who can also be called. Even if your little one doesn't manage 999 she could call someone who can help.

You could do this with a mobile too, as the problem with mobiles is that on 999 you have to jump through some extra hoops and she might not cope with that. On a mobile you could use a photo assigned to the contact and maybe make sure that the entry in the phone book is easily recognisable by putting stars next to the name, and setting it as speed dial 1 or something.
