Begginer carriage driving lessons

Arraslea Shires near Ambergate do driving lessons. They also do demos of logging and tow a canal boat on the cromford canal. They don't just have shires, they are have a cob too.

Sorry to jump on thread but I can't see a weight limit on their website, do they have one ....?

Ah, okay, sorry. I've been searching for driving lessons with no upper weight limit for literally years for my dad but haven't been able to find anything suitable. :( he'd love something with heavy horses, too.

if you don't mind travelling South Harbridge Percherons do experience days at Ringwood in New Forest, Im pretty sure there would be no weight limit on driving.

I had a few driving lessons a couple of years ago, there was no weight limit. I went to Bennington for a day, then had a lesson closer to home and it was never mentioned/

No idea on the weight limit, but I think the RDA at Scropton do carriage driving lessons (and they do teach able-bodied too).

I used to go to Scropton and they were fab. Close to Burton too. I had to stop due to moving and unfortunately there aren't any RDA centres where I am not that offer it.

Give them a try, I wouldn't expect a low limit. I have seen their horses pulling vehicles with 4 or more adults in so one larger person seems unlikely to be an issue.

As a rule of thumb a driving pony/horse can pull its own weight. Fit ones can do up to double in flatish areas. Young/old/very hilly it is lower than the animals weight. So a 500kg horse with a 200kg carriage should be ok with up to 300kg of people on board.
