Do your dogs beg for food?
shocked.gif

Finn will sit 2 inches from me in the kitchen when I am preparing food incase I 'drop' some... but if asked to "move" of "go away" will go off and lay down and watch me instead!! LOL!!

Hows about when you eat?

We eat in the front room and the dogs know not to sit and watch us eat.. however Finny does the funniest thing... he watches me like a hawk from a distance and sits 'snapping' his jaws and licking his lips... like he is biting the air... he also 'whines' as he a does it - but if told to 'shhhhh' just 'snaps' and puts his chin on the floor with 'sad eyes' LOL!!!

Tee hee!!!!!!!!!

Bumble Dog begs, sits at my feet while I cook and then when we are eating there is normally a little nose between legs looking hopefully up!!!!!!! Guess what, since 8 weeks ago today we thought we had lost her we love to see that little begging face and don't mind in the least!!

Beastie begs. Own fault really for feeding her tidbits and shock horror, yes I have fed her food off my plate

Not anymmore mind you.

Tina the lab wouldn't dream of begging. Won't take food off anyone bar Mark, his kids or me. His friends in the bar always try to entice her with crisps etc but she refuses to take them.

Dandy is a thief. We eat in the living room with plates on our laps and he has actually jumped up and grabbed the nearest thing he could off my plate. I was totally shocked.

At puppy training on Monday he stole the liver cake, I took my eye off the ball for one second and there he was looking very pleased with his cheeks bulging trying desperately to swallow it before I noticed!

All of ours will beg. Most will just sit there looking hopeful, Todd gently paws at whoever has food to see if she wins and Millie begs properly - big mistake teaching her that LOL. Oh and if you look at Flora and say "Say please!" she woofs at you, mum wishes she never taught her that and wont let me teach the others

I let my 3 "clean" my plate when I've finish

Hehe, at least he will move away when asked!
Aunts harley Dane was a nightmare, little git used to hang his head over plate, drop some slobber on it then expect you to give it all to him

I absolutely will not allow any of our pets anywhere near the dinner table or my knee (if Im in front of the tv) when I am eating. It drives me mad and they most certainly would never get scraps off my plate.

Nellie the cocker will hover round me in the kitchen if Im prepping veg and i will admit to giving her the tail end of carrots but they both know better than to bug us when we are eating.

I make a point with all puppies to train them that human food tastes awful. We do this by sitting with a plate of food at dog nose height but first spreading english mustard around the rim of the plate. The pup is allowed one go at a swift lick, the taste of the mustard puts them off for life.

Its worked every time!

No my dogs never beg for food. If I have something to give them, then it goes in their bowls. Same with my horses - none of my animals get tidbitted as I believe it encourages undesirable behaviour.

Well my dog is the worse!

She will sit in the kitchen when I am getting food ready, and she will sit and look at the floor and wait for something to drop
ooo.gif

When we are eating dinner she will sit there and not take her eyes off the food!
As soon as we are finished she is out in the kitchen waiting for it to go into her food
