hi

how many people have actually heard about BEIDS or ride alert?
do you think its a good idea?
and would you buy a product from them?

I think less people know about this than should do :)

you buy a wristband or toggle to go on the saddle from them and automatically register with them
they then have all your details of horse and family incase you fall off or are involved in an accident, then the paramedic or passer by can call the number on the wristband or toggle and give all information that may be needed.

like if you were to have a allergy or where the horse should be returned to
what'd you think?

Yes, I've got a wristband and a saddle tag. I think its good as I often hack alone.
I tried the hat stickers, but they didn;t stick. My friends has stuck OK on her phone though.

Its also good because you can put more than one person on your account (you don't have to be related). We have both of us at our yard on the same one, which means we only have to pay one annual subscription between us, My OH is a runner and he is thinking of having the trainer tags you can get and adding himself to the account.

The link is here if you want to find out more: http://beids.co.uk/ I seam to remember you get a discount for BHS\BE membership etc.

Surely just getting a dog tag engraved with name and number/ emergency contact & fitting one to saddle, bridle & your hat would cost all of £3 and be more effective

I have heard of them but didn't like them I chose these instead

You do realise that advertising (especially stealth advertising) is not allowed on this site?

I would suggest that you stop advertising unless you are willing to pay like other companies have to :)

I have to say that I cannot see how nala1's post differs significantly from the OP, surely both are saying that the poster feels that they have something to say about information sharing with the emergency services?

Yes, but I'm betting the OP isn't linked to the company... Look through nala's previous posts, and links to her pb account! I'm not saying it isn't an interesting item but am fed up with all the stealth advertising on here.

:)

If I am wrong then huge apologies!

yes Ive heard snippets about BEIDS. Not much though, mostly only through here I think. Ive seen a couple of 'click here for more information' links, which, when clicked upon, took me to another site where Ive found nothing about BEIDS despite searching. Having tried to find out more on a couple of occasions and not succeeding I gave up on it and thought no more about it really.
I just googled and found a different site that does have some information on, so thats good, but found the previous wild goose-chases irritating.

So yes, Ive heard of BEIDS, but had little idea what they were or were about, so I dont think the marketing has been very successful. Certainly Ive seen nothing about them in the few equestrian mags and forums I might read, apart from a couple of mentions on HHO, perhaps the marketing dept has just managed to miss the particular things I might read and theres been masses of marketing everwhere else, I dont know :D

Are these the bands that Mary and Emily King were advertising at Badminton a couple of years ago? I watched an advert on the big screens. They seemed like a good idea but I'll admit I haven't bought one. I really ought to get tags for my saddles though as my worst fear must be a runaway horse!

yeah i have, i got information on it when i got my BHS membership, looked into it, and ordered my wrist bands, for a tenner you get two and a years subscription, you have to pay 15 quid for the next year when it needs to be renewed.

im allergic to penicillin so its great for me. you can add on toggles for your horses at a later stage if you want to, these cost extra.

the profile you update yourself on line, it has your next of Kin, other phone numbers to contact, your drs details, allergies, you can even have a picture of you on there!! :D

great idea!!

Looked into BEIDS but just too expensive really!

I use a LOCATA and dare not say where I bought mine from!!!!! In case get eaten alive!!!

It hi viz and is attached to the saddle no problem! As it says HORSE IDENTITY ENCLOSED it will be obvious to anyone finding my horse (not that he would stop) but anyway done my bit!

i was looking at the saddle tag earlier. From what I can see it seems I could buy one and register 1 or 2 horses on it.
My issue with that is I have more than 2 horses and ride them all out in the same Ansur treeless saddle, but it looks like rather than being able to have one tag on the saddle all the time, Id have to register each individual horse and buy x amount of tags, and change tags about as I rode each horse, seems a bit of a palaver.
Not sure what registering each horse by name achieves, as whichever horse it is if its loose and caught, it comes back to the same place regardless of what its called.
It would be ok if I could register the tag as my name and not individual horses, but if thats not the case it looks like the Locata might be a better bet in my case.

Interesting concept though, I think its always good to have some sort of ID on the tack etc.

I have BEIDS and keep toggle on inside saddle flap and wear bracelet when remember just bought key tag which ever you choose some ID and hi viz are important especially if hacking alone.
