What's it like to be a livery on here with all the camps etc
Is it only small professional yards ?
What's the turn out like ?
Thanks

depends who’s yard you are on - if you are on Cathy Taylor’s it’s like being in heaven ... they get daily turn out and I’ve never had any problem with somewhere to ride - the indoor is exclusively livery only and they close the farm ride to ‘foreigners’ somewhere mid afternoon... it’s very quiet in the early mornings when I ride - I have really good facilities at home but my ridden horses are both at Somerford atm for loads of reasons . I have had horses in many yards over the many years and I can honestly say they are the best looked after they have ever been - including when they are at home with me... they get so much attention. But not all Somerford yards are created equally...

The camps have their own area, stables, arenas, clubhouse, parking, well away from the main yards.

Turnout is small paddocks, but only two per paddock and I've rarely seen any poo in them.

When my friend was in the main barns managed by Carole, her horse went out every day in winter for about 4 hours and every night in summer.

Depends on whose yard your on. Some yards seem to have a high turn over of staff where as others have long standing staff members and consistency of care. Also depends on if your horse can cope with being on a busy yard with lots going on. Some of the fields are a real trek away from the yard areas.

I am going to my first camp there in October and agree that if you look at the place on Google maps, the camp areas are well away from the main yard(s) so I don't think they will be a problem.

Thank you all for the replies, looks like I have been put in to be the anchor at a depot in this area i.e to spend ateasr 2 days a week and then do my other visits, and I do not want to keep moving the ponies. What I really need to do is move my current yard.

There are a number of other livery yards in the area that offer full livery and good facilities which might be worth considering too.
