Good thread! It's really interesting to know more about the people we randomly chat to on HHO!

Here are my answers:
How long have you been riding for? - 13 years since I was 7.
How many horses have you got? - one of my own a 15.3hh 11yo grey ID X mare, I help look after a friend's 15.2hh 19yo bay Anglo Arab mare, and there may be another half a horse in the pipeline but *shhh* I haven't told anyone yet!
What is your main discipline and why? - dressage, partly because I'm too much of a wuss to jump over 2'3" and partly because my YO is very into dressage and I have always watched her and admired her and got into it that way!
Do you have lessons and if so how often and with whom? - when I can afford it yes, with my YO, on my own or my friends' horses. Also sometimes have lessons with a local instructor (who I also happen to work for).
Do you compete? - yes, usually dressage but only unaff prelim as yet. Would have started SJing had my horse not been injured and then some ODEs.
Do you work with horses or have another job or lucky enough not to work!!! - I am just finishing my second year at uni doing an equine degree. I also have a part time job working for a local instructor at her livery/ riding school/ eventing yard (which is hard work but I enjoy it despite my complaints!)
Any other interesting info - Bossanova from HHO is my boss's sister (random info).
I'm not a very interesting person really so not much on the last one!

I've been riding for over 30 years.
At the moment I'm down to just one horse.
I mainly do dressage and show-jumping.
I alternate a dressage lesson one week with a jumping lesson the next - I have dressage lessons with Henri Plag and jumping lessons with Phillippa McKeever.
I compete either dressage or show jumping most weekends. ATM unaffiliated but aim to affiliate dressage this year and return to affiliated SJ next year.
I'm a vet and so yes work with horses as well as other animals.
Other interesting info - went on a horseback safari in Botswana once.

Been riding for 6 years.
I have one horse.
My main discipline is showing as i havent done anything else competitively. But will be doing.
I dont have lessons, not had one since the weather got bad in winter but will be having them again soon
I do compete but am wanting to get into some low level eventing with my boy.
I dont work with horses but am going back to college to finish my course in september.

Ok, suppose I had better reply to my own post eh??!!!

How long have you been riding for?
Well, would not call it riding, rather staying on and being took for a ride!!!! Since I was 3... so lets say 36 years!! Riding properly say the last 6 years!

How Many horses have you got?

Just the one... thats enough for me or my hubby would divorce me!

What is your main discipline and why?

Use to be showjumping, then saw the movement of warmbloods, saw some dressage, got myself a warmblood, had to have him put down which was something I never want to do again... got told that warmbloods were prone to bone disorders, vowed never to get another.... but alas I did because when I see them move.... sorry... I love it!! Hence now a dressage person! Still would love to get me a showjumper too as jumping is so clear cut, unlike dressage judging... you think you have it sorted but the scores say not! te he!!
Do you have lessons and if so how often and with whom?

Once a month with David Hunt, and once every 2 - 3 weeks with Dan Sheriff (depending on how much money I can get from my hubby!!)
Do you compete?

Yes, sometimes twice/three times a month but lately only once a month as paying for lessons comes first!!

Do you work with horses or have another job or lucky enough not to work!!!

I got my AI about 6 years ago and use to teach at Trent Park Equestrian Centre part-time, freelance and lecture up to BHS III (eves and weekends) together with full-time job, I am a Legal PA... yes with red hair!! When you want a divorce you know who to come to!! I also taught freelance. Since I moved yards, and started competing unfortunately do not have time to teach. I miss the lecturing though as I really enjoyed teaching.

Any other interesting info

Ok, I have always done sports. Use to be a shotputter when I was younger! Ha! Have ALWAYS been on a diet since I was 10 years old! Did bodybuilding for 9 years and competed ! Broke my neck, 1/2 cm away from killing myself apparently, when I was 13 years old, my horse rolled on top of me... ekkk!! Been married for 14 years... just!!

Thats enough now!!! Hope you get a better picture of me now!!

It is really nice that many people have responded...I am just a nosey person really!!

I've been riding for about 21 years

I have 1 horse

Dressage is my main discipline but I started off SJing and caught the dressage bug after being persuaded by an instructor to do some unaff dressage with Louis as he thought he had good paces. Did unaff dressage and BSJA for a while and then got hooked to the dressage and affiliated 1yr and a half ago when I moved yards and got a new trainer. Now doing Elementary dressage and hopefully medium in the near future. I still do some SJing/hunter trails/unnaf ODE's for fun.

I have lessons with Kieth Robertson once a fortnight.

Compete BD normally once a wk/fortnight

I am an archaeologist (specialise in Egyptian) and I work as a curator in a museum and present but starting my Phd next yr....so no I don't work with horses

erm, I've been riding since I was 4 (I'm 26 now). Though tBH IMO I'm not very good at it at all. I'm too nervy and seem to have an electric bum. As soon as I feel a horse tense i panic...

I havent got a horse atm, my children have a pony, 9.3hh chestnut shetland, and I'm hoping to get my own later this year.

No discipline, just enjoy hacking.

I was riding a friend's show hunter, and she gave me lessons weekly, but she moved away a month ago so I'm without a ride for the time being.

I'm a stay at home mum, but will be going back into paid emplyment in 2 years, wehn I hope to work either as a PT groom or in agriculture.
