Being reported to RSPCA

Then we had an RSPCA van parked outside the farm gates; why FFS do they have to always park outside so that all the blimmin neighbours have an eyeful, but they do.

Sodding RSPCA! Sorry if that offends some here, but they're as much use as a nun in a punch up when they COULD do some good; yet hassle the people that treat their animals OK, to death. Its a pity they choose not to use a bit of common sense IMO and instead go on tittle tattle and thus contribute to hate campaigns.

Firstly where else are they supposed to park!!??!!

Secondly how on earth are they supposed to know if it's a justified call or not without attending??!!!

Unfortunately they don't tackle false allogation callers because it could quite well put people off reporting genuine calls in future if they were scared that what they were looking at was abuse/neglectful or not.

Personally I'd rather have them attend and see all is fine, than not attend a call and end up missing a genuine case.

OP yes I would highly expect that it is related to the court case, I would report every break in/intrusion to the police, they can put a data request in to the rspca for caller details if it is relation to legal proceedings. This will be frutiless if the call was logged anonymously, but maybe just maybe they did leave their details.

I would also get some sort of cctv up and security lighting.

Good luck and hope it gets sorted before the foaly arrives, otherwise you'll turn yourself inside out with worry.

How long does it take before the RSPCA will do something regarding false accusations. Ive been reported at least 3 times now over the past 2 months over my mare. Always the same mare none of the other horses i have. Saying she is underweight, bad sweetitch not looked after. When in fact she is in foal putting on too much weight really in ideal world would want her skinner. This is the best year she has had and has been able to live out all year with her mane growing back.

Last tue night someone let her out of her stable as she was in as was lame, they left the main gate open and all the chains etc were removed. She was found on the road - now been reported for this as well its driving me mad esp. as there are horses who really need help.

Not the best picture but this is the mare in question -

As others have said, if it is at all possible move the horses.

Put up CCTV, but concealed or you will just move the problem to an area not covered.

Complain to the police about harassment. The police can force the RSPCA to give up the name or any other contact details of the complainant, although they will not give them to you.

Complain to the police about criminal damage and theft. Missing chains. Also, letting horses onto the road is dangerous, not just to your animals but to any other road users.

Make sure that you get incident numbers from the police for each complaint.

If they fail to act then make a written complaint and be prepared to take it on to the IPCC.

Fax the RSPCA marking your fax 'For Urgent Attention of the Legal Department'. Fax no. 0303 123 0100

State briefly what the situation is and that you will consider any further visits to be harassment and that you will report them to the police, and if necessary seek an injunction.

Serve a subject data access request on the RSPCA. If you e-mail me at Fenris@caramail.com I will send you a sample request letter and instructions. They will then have to send you everything they have on you. Which should include details of the complaints. Again they will not give you the name of the complainant, but the wording can help indicate who made the complaint.

Police - you need to talk to them. These things have a way of escalating if not dealt with.

If the chains were cut it is obviously someone with tools, coming prepared.

The police will get involved. Some idiot let my horse and pony out, luckily they went up and a man who knows me (everyone knows everyone else) he got them into the drive and tied the gate until I got there in pitch black.Police now go every now and then to check.

So let the police know.

What a rotten situation ! :( I hope it's resolved very soon for you, it's such a horrible feeling being unjustly 'got at' & not know where it's coming from !
The only suggestion I can add to the others, is to take photos of any entry damage, cut chains etc. & keep a log of every instance with date & time so that you have detailed evidence to report to the Police.

Just wondering if you could get a letter from the RSPCA confirming the horses are in good condition and advising you on how to deal with malicious complaints? You could stick this up on a prominent place on the stables / at the gate. Might even be worth contacting local press and having them do a story about what is happening - might alert friendlier neighbours and they could help by keeping a closer watch on what was going on. CCTV is a good idea, make sure the tape is in a secure place.

For those spluttering about the lab/greyhound mix up. I was once asked to help catch a greyhound/lurcher type that had been left behind by travellers. It was in fact a very, very thin black lab! So maybe not such a stupid mistake after all.

Is there anyway you can cctv or even better with some strong help spend a night or two incognito at the yard to see who comes along?? Sleep in stable (I would) Take a decent flashed up camera etc. Your local police should be able to do regular checks for you if you ask them.
