Grrr just wrote a proper essay about Blair and my XC exploits yesterday and HHO ate it!

So this will now be very brief as I'm SUPPOSED to be working...

Went to Blair with Mr B - his 4th ever show, 1st stay away and first attempt competing on grass bless his socks! Well what can I say, he absolutely excelled himself. If you'd told me the week before that my worst score would have been 12 faults I'd have laughed at you all, but as it stands we had a fence on the Friday, clear jumping but a circle to gather knitting on the Saturday (shouty man was NOT impressed with that one!) and two down and a geeky baby run out on Sunday (typical the day team HHO come to watch I don't do quite so well lol!). He really was just so good, he's only ever jumped one class at that level before and to start at strong built discovery classes every day and post those results I don't think I could possibly complain! Oh and the HHO Friday BBQ was ace as well, nice to meet a few new people...

And yesterday I decided to have a bash at the novice 2'6" XC at our yard as a wee change of scenery - don't want him going stale with the coloured fences. And yet again Mr B delivered the goods - jumped what I considered to be a pretty mature clear round with only one spook inbetween fences at a quad bike (geek of a pony...)! Big pats and smiles all round, actually really enjoyed it! Cooled off, washed off and got back to helping out with kitchen, secretary, general fetcher/carrier duties (joys of competing on home turf!). Got handed the score sheets to pin up and imagine my surprise when I saw I'd only WON it out of about 35 horses woo hoo! I was 3 seconds over the optimum time, closest of the day and got a lovely rosette and wee trophy - can't remember the last time I actually came first at any competition! And boyo happy with cold legs this morning so all good.

Oh this still turned into an essay lol sorry! Hoping FJ might put the Blair SJ pics up on this thread (I'm thick and can't make it work!), thanks for reading my ridiculously self indulgent post!

Yay! Lovely happy report and so pleased for your result yesterday! :D

What a star he is, now... which intro are you going to aim for first next year...?

:p

Many many apologies, I totally forgot (in amongst the excitement of this weekend) about getting "HHO legal" photos for you from Mr FJ.

:( I'm so sorry, I will try get them for you as soon as possible and add them on here.

FJ it's cool, I'm too thick to post them anyway so was hoping you could add them on here somewhere lol! When we getting your RF report, can't wait to see the piccies? IF (and that's a big IF) I can get the dressage up to scratch I MIGHT (and that's a big MIGHT) have a crack at Eglinton or Auchinleck next season BE90. But don't hold your breath...

Langside thank you, I really enjoyed it and popped some of the open fences at training through the week - nothing phases him! FJ will hopefully get some pics up as I'm thick, no XC ones unfortunately!

Hey, are Hopalong and I not proof that dressage isn't the important thing about a fun day out doing BE?! Yeah yeah, we're never coming home with the frillies, but it's so much fun that it's not the end of the world. :) Anyway, B's dressage would probably trounce H's even as it is! See you at Auchinleck (it's sooner than Eglinton...! ;) )

Will be late before Mr FJ is home tonight to sort piccies for me I'm afraid, but I will post them on here for you as soon as I can. Will need to speak very nicely to him and see if I can get some Turnberry ones off him too. :)

Don't stress about the pics, just whenever you get a chance! B's dressage would be ok if I could do it in my latest great bit find, but get the feeling that a NS waterford with fulmer cheeks wouldn't be very legal...

Will try to get some prelims and maybe a novice under our belts over the winter and go from there - intro stressage isn't tricky is it?

Hmmm 20m circles? Even we could probably manage that lol! Will have to see how the BSJA goes over the winter, if he turns out to be promising I'll probably want to save his little legs but you might get me eventing yet...

Babybear you should, it's a nice novice course I think! FigJam has seen some of them, she'll back me up lol. We'll probably have at least two next year, a lot of competitors yesterday were at the YO to have one last run but the weather will never hold for another month unfortunately!

Thanks Measles, just hope I'm not doing too much too soon but his attitude has just been so good so far! Fingers crossed we get round on Thursday, won't be greedy and hope for a DC as already pushed my luck this week with vibes lol!

Got some pics to show you all now - many thanks to Mr FigJam for getting wet to come and take them and then sending me them to show you all!

Sequence over number 1 - note the rain... Can't believe we had this one down!

Second last fence - he felt ACE over this (if a little to the one side, I'm blaming the undulating ground cos I was sober honest!)

CC if you like, I appreciate that I'm not looking very neat and tidy ha ha! And thanks again Mr FigJam!

Bob's photos are ace aren't they, especially given the rubbish conditions! He looks more handsome with his grackle back on, the drop only worked for about a week lol. He's still a bit 'dangly' in front, but don't think he'll have many fences behind - his back end is really good! Got a different bit again that he seems happier in so fingers crossed...
