I've been plucking up the courage to make a report so here goes...
Only entered on the Monday before as it would be my first proper attempt at PN. Luckily they fitted me in in return of the offer to steward on Sunday! Got up very early as I was on at 8am!!! Luckily I only had a few miles to go. Got there nice and early and couldn't get the car and trailer on - so had to come in an "alternative" route!
Got sorted for dressage, went down to warm up and he was going quite nicely - off my leg, responsive but a little too keen! Went in to do my test - first 10m loop had us leaving the arena where there were no boards, he stepped on the corner of on and it flipped up in his face - he reacted like any normal horse would! I had a word with myself and pulled myself together. Rest of test was more settled and thought I had some nice work. Little disappointed with a 37 but there we go - that's dressage for you. Haven't seen my sheet but do know I had a 4 for that little blip!
Onto SJ - should have been first to go, but ambulance/ paramedic hadn't arrived. I had warmed up and ready to go before I found out. Walked around for a bit and then gave up and went back and untacked. About 2 hours later we went back to warm up and in we went. Wasn't feeling overly confident but I kicked on and we were unlucky to just have the last rail down! I had lost all motivation by this point and insistent I wasn't going to run xc. However my friend and helper gave me a talking to and off we went.
Got into the start box where he started to be very naughty! Very unlike him! On the word "Go" we were actually facing the wrong way but I managed to get him out and on we went. Jumped everything beautifully - all I wanted was to go clear which we did!
Was very pleased with my day and we sorted out, packed up and off we went. Didn't expect a placing or anything of a sort. I was gobsmacked to later find out I should have been at prizegiving to collect our 5th place! Somebody kindly collected it for me and I was amazed to find a cheque for more than my entry fee back! I am so, so proud of my boy - he has been an absolute star for me and he can't give me much more. He's given me my confidence back and I'm enjoying eventing again after a huge confidence crisis. Lots of wine and chocolate for reading!
