A "madman" has cycled upto a creche in Belgium, on entry he has set about stabbing anything and everything in sight

A carer and 2 babies are dead and a further 10 babies/toddlers have been stabbed - I'm lost for words - How convenient to name him a "madman" though - Nothing less than the death penalty would be fit for him

They were literally babes in arms... babies fast asleep

I'm heartbroken and crying whilst typing this - what an horrific thing for those babies and carers and parents to endure

My thoughts are with all involved - speedy recovery for the injured - although mental scars are going to take time to heal

The babies will be left with physical scars but it's been reported that they will be too young to remember (I hope so - but I broke my arm at 18months and I remember it vividly

It made me cry hearing this on the news. How truly awful, those poor, poor babies. My heart breaks for everyone involved. I hope they string the B*****d up.

I've not brought myself to read all the details as I just cry everytime
frown.gif

Sickening - but yes... who on EARTH let him in - that person must be so traumatised by their actions

It's not so far from me and I and every Belgian parent are in total shock that this could happen.
All 3 of my children attended a creche at some point or othern and I truly believed that they were 'safe' there.
This is unthinkable. My thoughts are with all those people who have been affected by this atrocity.

Do you know what I find more bizarre SJ_Mummy? The fact that 93 people have read this post but only 3 people have posted replies... that's sad isn't it? We're talking total unbelievably horrific murders and attacks on small infants and it hasn't roused people to post???

I too don't know how I'd cope if something like that happened
frown.gif
We have to entrust our little ones at some point - it's terrifying to think what can happen

What a desperately sad thing to happen.
It is a very cruel world in which we live.
So sorry for all those killed and injured - awful, just awful.

You know,we read about horrible stuff like this happening in the USA and other atrocities involing children in countries at war,but in a small and rather uncontroversial country like Belgium, there have been far too many crimes of violence against children.
What in the world is going on??????????????????

i saw this on my homepage news. i think its devastating that somebody could do that to such cute little things. the parents must be horrified, and whoever let them in must be feeling very guilty

Bizarre? What meaningful thing CAN anyone say about something so appalling and so inexplicable?

...well people managed to say plenty when a business man shot dead his wife, child and horses... I seem to remember a lot of people posting then

It makes me go cold, it has happened in this country too though, what kind of sick individual does this kind of thing. Europe should have the death penalty for this sort of act.

I think thats just why,it's hard to put what we are thinking and feeling into words
frown.gif

I cry every time I read anythign about this, but cant put the emotion into words well. The very idear that your baby could go off to have fun, learn a little and not come home.....it's sickening.
I also agree it's all too easy to lable him a "madman" and leave it at that.If he was seriously disturbed WHY was he able to leave a hospital?

Sure I am not the only one who gave my child an extra tight hug when I picked him up yesterday. My thought and prayers are with the parents of the dead and injured

I am Mummy to a 1 year old who goes to nursery every morning and i have tears in my eyes reading this WTF is wrong with the world today
My heart goes out to all those parents involved in this tragic event

They call him a 'madman' because we cannot imagine anyone sane could do such a thing but often these killings are revenge in some weird way.
In the UK outside doors at schools/nurseries are number coded, did he have access to such a number or did someone unwittingly allow him entry, we may never know. Please check out security arrangements where your child has care, no-one will mind you asking and it may allay your own fears ie how often numbers are changed.
Those of you who 'feel' this most deeply are the ones with little ones of your own or who work with little ones
It does not mean others do not care, maybe they cannot find words to express the disgust and anger they feel that would be acceptable on a public board.
I can remember as a new Mum bursting into floods of tears at news of a missing child or hearing of untimely death
Now older, I am calmer but much more likely to take action on issues I feel I can do something about

Thanks Cuffey - that's a really good reply - it does feel rather close for comfort even though it's 100s of miles away - I just feel so sad for all involved

Madness of this level of danger is unusual, most people with mental health problems are more danger to themselves than to others. However from the small amount of information available it does sound as if this man was unwell, and therefore likely to not be responsible for his actions, those who talk about his being strung up are barbaric, if that is the case. Should this man return to being well he will have the utmost remorse for his actions. A very sad event for all involved.
