Belgian Warmbloods??

I went to see a lovely belgian warmblood mare today with view to have her on long term full loan. She's six years old with potential to do well, especially in dressage. A lot of people have remarked that she looks quite like a Thoroughbred though.

Pictures don't do her any justice. Does anyone have examples of belgian warmbloods? What do you think of her?
 
Do a google search and you will find many examples of successful belgian warmbloods - Darco was one! She may well have hann, KWPN etc in her pedigree too. If you know her bloodlines you can post on the breeding forum and they may be able to tell you more about her family. They are mainly known for SJ.

She looks a nice mare - have fun with her!

I am sure there is a belgian warmblood breed forum - try google for that too. They would give you loads on info and be a good place to start reading up about them

In the flatwork picture yes she does look very tb like,but on the bottom pic looks to be lacking alot of muscle and topline!
She is only six and i think with correct work and maturity she will improve alot

I only saw one photo of her before i made the journey to see her - i did expect her to be much chunkier if i'm honest.
She's out of work at the moment but her paces were stunning when she was concentrating and she didn't have her nose up in the air. Her grand sire is French Buffet if i recall although having done some research into him and his offspring i realise they are bred for jumping really. Her current owner hasn't jumped her at all but she'd be happy for me to bring her back into it - her past owners used to jump her about 4ft - so wonder if she's on springs!
She was beautifully natured aswell, very inquisitive and friendly.
 
My boy is pink papered and all of his pedigree are show jumpers and both his parents succesful showjumpers! Needless to say i hate showjumping and since i bought him (about 4 months ago now) he has been turning into a dressage horse!

And just so you can see him jumping (he is on springs btw haha). With a friend not me as i am a wuss, first time she rode him and she took him round discovery (not massive but for me that was impressive as she had never sat on him and she boxed him up and took him out)!

sorry for the excess of photos haha! But this is my baby, hes 8 though so will probably be a bit more filled out than she is at the moment and hes soo fat, not your typical warmblood, hes a very good dooer and has been all through winter

My horse I lost a couple of years ago was a Belgian Warmblook - best horse I've ever had & taught me a lot. Flatwork was rubbish though, so against type.

like most warmblood studbooks, the Belgian warmblood is just a sport horse type rather than a breed and as such you can see a huge variety. Almost any sporthorse breed can be registered as a breeding mare, including thoroughbreds, so you can see a huge variety!
