As requested, here are some update pictures of my mare that we recovered just over 7 weeks ago. For those of you that didn't see the original posts I shall include before and after pics.

It's amazing what a bit of quality grass, wormer and TLC can do!

Yes we are really, really pleased with her. We cann't believe the speed with which she is recovering and yes, you would think she is a substituted horse!
I think that just goes to show how badly she was being starved and neglected. Whilst I appreciate that Cheshire grass is a little more nourishing than where she was she has been on very restricted grazing so as not to overload her and very little else. Along with being wormed as the worm count was terrible and getting rid of her unbelievable lice infestation! Shows what a good doer she is and the state of her was nothing to do with an underlying issue or her age!
The authorities are involved and they assure me that all is in hand in regards to their other horses but can tell me nothing else.
She is a long way from her former self but has made such a staggering come back, she really has shocked us all. She must be such a resilient old lady with such a strong spirit, it makes me so sad for what she has had to suffer, but so proud that she has come through it so strong and still as feisty as ever!! She is an inspiration really...

She is still struggling a bit, the wound was a terrible mess and they took the stitches out way too soon so it opened up to about 3 inches wide. She has had one infection after another in the surface wound, but hopefully this is her last course of antibiotics. There is about half a centimeter wide gap to heal yet now and there is still a considerable amount of swelling. I don't think it is going to be the neatest scar in the world. I am hoping that the lump underneath will gradually go down, once it has healed I can start working on the scar tissue surrounding it.
She is getting really needle shy now poor lady but she is eating and putting her weight back on now and *touch wood* the actual digestive system seems to be working really well!

The mare in these pics is actually her mum! Not had the best time between them but she is as strong as her mum hopefully!
