Ben Hur Chariot race now channel 5

Over now - I only worry about the bit where the 4 horses are brought down quite quickly - but it seems the filming is speeded up quite a lot. I hope they were all ok. They show them later – they are all standing and one is being pulled to his feet.. No one was killed in this film, although there was much speculation at the time - the man who was run over - the sequence was cut and was replaced with a dummy.
 
Don't know if its true but heard that 100 horses died in the making of this film!

Yes, moneypit, it is true. There are a lot of films where animals were killed or injured for human entertainment and this is one of them. I saw that it was on, but didn't watch it. I don't enjoy watching animals die and it sickens me to think it still goes on. I did have a website link to an article which details many films made TODAY, where animals are tripped, thrown and subjected to abuse for Hollywood. Can't remember the film, but one not that long ago was a Disney film, where Lemmings are supposed to be jumping into the river. They made the shot by putting lemmings onto a turn-table and flinging them off it at high speed.
