Two superb clear rounds in the Nations Cup on Friday night here in Wellington, Florida. All the top US riders are rating Ben, and a number of notable people were around our table talking about what a stylish rider he is. He was one of only two to go double clear in an up to height Nations Cup.

needless to say, offers have now been made on Rolette!

A round of showjumping isn't always the prettyest thing to watch, but Ben put in a real show, super to watch.

He's super isn't he, he first caught my eye back in the 90's at the Pony Europeans at Hartpury. I've been a fan ever since.

She is a lovely mare. Our paths have crossed in competition over the years and it is great to see Ben doing so well on her. He and her have clicked very quickly. I hope her owners can afford to keep her.

Reading posts etc about Ben always make me feel old. I remember him when he was in ponies and used to livery them at my DIY yard - you could see he was going to be good! And to think - he is now giving a session of lessons to our local riding club!! Oh I do feel old!!

and you know what, great performance here, winner of the grand prix at mechelen beating all manner of luminaries, nice guy, great jock and still wont get onto a championship team cos he isnt a whittaker. pity.

Interesting - I always thought he was a lovely rider - and not saying he isnt but have heard there is a different side to him, which would be disappointing if true.

Ive got pics of us two being first and second at the derby one year-ponies! and then me being first and him second in the foxhunter champs!
Lovely to see him going so well.
Shame about the rumours surrounding the chesnut mare he had.

have seen him compete at my local show centre(poetry in motion) and not only is he a very very competent rider (so quiet yet so effective) he seems very down to earth as a person,(has the talent and the brain to go with it) hes one to keep 'the' eye on!!!

personally i would rather hope the british selectors might have got a little further pas the 'keeping an eye out for' stage after he won the Hickstead Derby or was that some one else?

think 'sticking out' and 'sore thumb' would spring to mind ,,, but am not a selector and dont know what they think/looking for and i guess they have to have the horses, but he is young / consistant and very talanted (in my view) and he has plenty of years ahead!!! good luck to him!!

There was a very grudging piece about his win (at Mechelen) in one of the Belgian magazines, especially as he was entered in the small tour classes and jumped his way fair and square into that class! But I think they were a bit sore as the Belgian riders didn't have a very good show!

I think if they were going to delete posts it should be all, not just the bad ones as could give false impressions. Ignoring the ones that were deleted, I was impressed the first time I saw him as he seemed elegant however having watched out for him I was disappointed as thought his horses seemed nervy and he has disappeared somewhat recently I think

I think Ben Maher is an amazing young talent and a charming young man. He and Rolette are such a wonderful partenership. I really hope they go to the olympics and silence some of his childish, bitter and obvious jealous critics by bringing home a medal!

Havn't heard much of him? He has recently won a five star grand prix in Belgium, jumped double clear in a five star nations cup, third in the grand prix.. If last year he did go quiet I think he is certainly back now!

His horse is a beautiful bay mare called Rolette. It was so unfortunate for him to lose his last horse, and therefore I feel he deserves all the luck with Rolette.
