My absolute favourite. Always said if any of the top sj'ers would ride my horse I would like it to be him! Congratulations to Ben, Tripple X and all connected with them!
It was an excellent performance, I hope a few people on this forum are eating some Humble Pie (is that the British expression?). Marcis Ehning has not been competing so much at top level for the last few months but he seems to be back in fine form. This was not such a good jump off as in Geneve though.
I remember seeing Tripple X as a shaggy young horse that had just been brought in from the field as a 6yo and Ben saying that he had bred it with no science behind it, hadn't had the chance to do anything with it and didn't know what he was going to do with it.
To me this demonstrates what a truly remarkable talent Ben is. Technically he is probably the best rider I have ever seen in this country and would rate him with the greats such as Jos Lansink and Ludger Beerbaum even now. To produce a horse from a shaggy horse to world class is a fantastic achievement, especially with all the other distractions he has had throughout the years and how hard he has had to fight to get to where he is now.
He deserves all the success, I hope it continues and I hope the show jumping community appreciate that he is what the sport needs.
I would class Ben and also john Whittaker in a higher class riding wise than ludgar to me they are both so classical and kind in their riding ( not so sure about jos cant remember his riding ) .
