can anyone suggest any exercises for encouraging a stiff amd tense horse (whos back/saddle/teeth) all ok to start to bend, lower their heads and relax.
Sorry to hi-jack but was just about to post similar question
I went to help a friend last night with her daughter's new pony. It is really tight & stiff. It shortens it's neck & becomes very difficult to turn & control. I was trying to explain to them about encouraging her to work 'long & low' but don't think that i did a very good job.
I seem to remember that there was a really good video clip of a guy who could explain & showed how it was done, anyone else remember this?
How about trying some carrot stretches on the ground to start with, getting him to bend round to his sides and between his front legs. Just a suggestion
Thanks Farrierswife. Carrot stretches are a good idea
I have already suggested long reining to them but not sure that they would be able to do that.
I'm sure that there is a really good video clip that explained the 'long & low' really well & thought that it would help to be able to show it to them.
Anyone else got any ridden exercises to loosen, stretch a stiff pony?
