Loan horse, plus another on the yard, both get bandaged behind overnight when stabled because their legs swell up. Both are big horses - Loan horse is 17hh and the big fella is a good 18hh heavyweight hunter.
It can also be really beneficial to help keep the clipped horse extra cosy when it's particularly cold.
Bloss is going to start being bandaged overnight as her legs are getting bigger than usual behind over night. i will just use then to keep the swelling down.
yeah, its mainly to prevent fluid build-up and retention in the legs. my 17hh gets it really bad when stabled. they look like logs in the morning but with bandages he's fine.
hope it helped x
i bandage both boys, to give extra warmth, protection as more padding, and if any cuts or injury's it protects and prevents bedding etc getting to wound if not covered, but my main reason is protection! i just use quilts and stables
