Bens sore on his face...

Have you heard of the newish spray called Hypocare? I know you want to keep it dry, and I dont personally know if it will work, but every time someone I know has used Hypocare it has worked. I would definitely give it a try.

Actually, I think you are eliminating what you don't want it to be, which is entirely understandable but maybe not in the horse's best interests.

I didn't say that it had doubled in size, but it may well do if it continues like this.

Sorry, just re read your original post, no you didn't say that. Nope, I'm not avoiding anything, my mare, infact two of them had sarcoids, they were removed, never an issue after that. Why would I risk or avoid it???!! Not my style on this issue!! Since my VET didn't diagnose sarcoid when he last saw it... It's flipping scar tissue from something/some reaction, I think I will take his very respected judgment call in on that.

Actually, yes I've heard it but have never used it. I saw some kind of ad in club house for it, but wasn't overly impressed by the responses. However, if people can tell be its a wonder treatment... I'd happily try it out :)

I thought you posted that the vet wasn't sure. It has now changed, he might be of a different opinion now, but without looking, how can he pass judgement. It seems you ask for opinions on here just to ignore them and get ratty with people.

No offense intended.....but I have noticed that you post often for opinions....and. when they are given you always discount any that you don't agree with...
You don't know what it is.
You won't call the vet.
You discount any opinion that isn't the same as yours....
Why bother?

It's clearly inflamed, possibly over granulating and definitely bothering him.....speak to a vet for gawds sake x

Sorry only just completely read this.

Yes I do post often for opinions, on saddles, bits, gadgets, training methods, showing, shoeing, feed... Etc! I have a horse who is growing up and I want to arm myself with as many opinions and tools as possible. Why shouldn't I, did I make a mistake, is this not a forum?

Oh my god, I also asked what could be wrong with my mare when she was losing weight dramatically and the vets here, at liphook and Liverpool and myself couldn't work it out... Oh and she died... Must be a very neglectful person then, since I didn't know what was wrong?!

Going for time out

Vet wasn't sure between reaction from plants or bot, am not ignoring, am getting ratty because people are judging me for sticking by my efforts to narrow it down, my knowledge of what it looks and feels like up close, and judging me for discarding their opinions based upon my knowledge/experience of this particular issue. Then, they have a go at me for dismissing sarcoids, when my vet didn't diagnose or even suggest that could be a possible cause.

As for Hypocare, I brought a bottle and have just used it on a rather nasty little cut on my mare's leg and it's cleared it up no problem. I also used it on myself and that was good too.

Hypocare is ok stuff - i use it and the 'original' version Vetericyn quite a bit on my various animals. Many that object to it havent tried it - yes it looks like water but then so does vodka!

Like the wound powder i mentioned earlier i dont think it could do any harm unlike some of the other suggestions

QB I think u needs a glass on wine ... I have a bottle open at mine ..;) I'm sure u have ur horses best interest at heart .. Don't dismiss other people's opinions ..as they r only trying to help :) plus u never know when u may need them .. I would text a photo to my vet if I was in ur shoes :)

So it's a positive then? My local equestian store has had it in for a while and I've been debating getting some in as stock, I almost did but then I saw the conjecture in the club house, but if there are positive experiences of it, I will give it a try. Thank you

Ahh, but vodka is gooood! Actually, I was reccomended vector icon today, never knew it was the same stuff. Will definitely go for it, thank you :)

If it has changed since the vet last saw it I would send him an update.

Thanks guys, actually have just poured a glass lol, and I will as I say be messaging/calling my vet if it hasn't got better or has worsened within a week. And I'm not dismissing all opinions, just those that don't fit with the facts :)

It doesn't sting, which is a huge plus point in my book. Just check the best before date though if buying a big bottle as mine has a short date but is only a small bottle. Not sure how effective it would be after this date but think it will all be gone by then anyway as Network Rail are running a construction site in my field at the moment!

Just a thought, but it could be a grass seed, or even a black thorn, it would be in the right place for one or the other!

Thank you! Luckily the shop locally has the ickle bottles, so I think I will try one of those for starters. :).

You said on your other thread that the lesion first appeared in May, which leads me to go with my initial instinct when I saw the picture and say that it is a sarcoid. Occult sarcoids can look just like a dry bit of skin and not like a regular sarcoid, until they get disturbed when they can look identical to this. I would definitely be getting the vet to have a look at that if he was my horse.

Agree with this, looks like a sarcoid to me. IMO :)
