Someone posted this one : Big horse! in response to someone else's thread. I thought he looked rather nice and I'm in Cambs and prepared to go and see him to check he's what they say he is to cut the risk of a wasted journey if you would like.

Ah right, in that case no don't bother.

For some reason HM has stopped showing me the other horses for sale by the same seller.

Thank you so much for the offer, our problem is I am not sure a 17.1hh is gonna fit through the stable door! So, very grateful for the offer, but will leave that one for now. Thanks. xx

Well, I have phoned about Bailey, (I even love his name!) He sounds just lovely, he jumps, not done dressage but is a quick learner. They cant show him to me this weekend, and I am struggling to be able to get there in the week, although I am off work, OH isnt, and nor is the girl that will come with us to stop us making another mistake! I might just have to kidnap them!
My other quandry is, I was told on Sunday, a woman about 10 miles away from me is trying to loan her horse out. The woman is my size, horse has done everything we want, he sounds just right, but not gonna hear anything probably til the weekend. I dont know the woman, and I dont have the number of the woman that told me about her. So, what do I do? Wait to see if this loan comes up, who is the right size for me, or Kidnap OH and friend to go 200 miles to see a horse that although I love, is a hand smaller than I have been riding, and as I am big and tall, feel I would suit a 16.2 hh more than a 15.2 hh.Do you follow or have I lost you all?

What do you think is for the best?
Your right, you could drag your family on a large round trip and love the horse when u get there, but you could also hate him! (in which case i suggest a large pub lunch on the way home to say sorry to the family you dragged out!!)

Put it another way - if the loan doesnt come about would you then wonder if you did the wrong thing by not seeing Bailey? or would you be ok knowing he is a hand smaller than what you actually wanted and therefore ok with not seeing him??

Have i lost you now? lol

Why does it have to be so difficult! And why cant these lovely big chunky horses be just down the road from me!

Benson21.. I am 5'10 and a half inches tall... I am well built. My pony is 15.2 and a not too dis-similar build to Bailey (I posted pics last week). She more than copes with me as her depth of barrel takes up my legs and I was originally looking for a 16.2 + to cope with my 33" inside legs. I feel safer on my coblet as being arthritic I don't want a "razor blade" of a horse as even though they hurt me less, if they DO spook there's nothing to keep me on board.

Do what you feel, but please don't negate a horse due to size as Bailey looks more than capable to me :D

Good luck with your continued search.

I would definitely try to go and look at him - he looks absolutely lovely! Lincolnshire isn't that far and straight up the A1 (some nice pubs dotted around there too:) ).

I also think you'll be fine height/weight wise on him - I'm a well built 5'10" and used to ride a 14.2 version of him and always looked and felt fine. I think you'd find he takes up your leg well so you wouldn't look too big at all. :D

I have already called and spoke to a man that is selling him for a friend, which may well be fine, but then I start getting suspicious as to why cant the friend sell him themselves. I think because we have had such a rough time with charlie, I am being over cautious.

B21, I think you should keep your options open as much as possible - you will feel more in control of the situation if you know you are doing everything you can.
I am 6 foot, size 16. My little mare was 15.2hh TB / ID and she more than handled me. A 15hh cob is a really decent sized animal.
