BER sentenced.

This just about sums it up the Law Is An Arse !!! What they have done is beyond words and this is what they are given. I always think when I hear banned from keeping animals for life or what ever period it is WHO is going to POLICE this and make sure that it does not happen again. Makes me sick that they can really get away with what they have done.

My dad is a DEFRA vet and does a lot of welfare cases. He's taken people to court plenty of times and had them banned, only for some of them to keep working with animals- they just don't actually own them.

Bans tend to be self policing - certainly they do around here. It's not just ownership, she won't be able to have sole charge of a horse, so no 'Oh I'm just looking after it for a friend' type scenarios either. This is very high profile too. I would think that local horse owners would be VERY quick to report her.

Given how light animal neglect sentencing is as a rule I think this magistrate has come down on here quite hard. Yes, we'd have all like to have seen a far more stringent sentence, but realistically that was never going to happen. I bet her face was a picture when the sentence was handed down too - I doubt she'd have been expecting this.
