I'm hoping to start up a discussion where people googling the above bit brands can find all of the information they need in one place. So, here's a summary of my experiences with the brands I've tried/looked into:

Nathe is very soft. It's so soft that when my horse gets agitated he chews teeth marks in the bit. This isn't a problem really, the metal core will keep it in-tact, but it looks a bit gross because hay gets stuck in it.

Trust I hear is just like Nathe, very soft. I get that from the pictures too, which is why, despite Trust being less expensive than Beris, I'm probably going to avoid Trust. If I had a horse with a VERY sensitive mouth (like my three-year-old who goes in a hackamore) I'd consider getting one.

Beris I love. My horse doesn't seem to notice a difference between the Nathe and the Beris, but the Beris is made a bit stronger, and has no bite marks in it.

Sprenger I haven't had any experience with yet, and hopefully someone can fill this one in. I have a feeling they're quite a bit like the Nathe and Trust, but I don't have the experience to say for certain.

If you can add your thoughts that would be much appreciated!

Recently bought an Inno Sense Ported Eggbutt (for youngster) but temporarily using it on older horse (who will admittedly go well in most bits) ... I like it so far. No wear yet but only used handful times. Think it is available in two degrees of hardness. It's very smooth.

I actually chose it more for the particular shape of the Mullen mouth port, to give tongue room. Will update thread in time when I have chance to use it more!

Following. What's the minimum diameter of the above bits please? For very sensitive, and so far very fussy, mare, with fleshy tongue and low palette too boot... Who seems to like narrow bits (or no bit at all.) but obviously thin bits can be severe hence looking at soft non metal ones. Thank you.

Wow. I always use a nathe jointed snaffle, didn’t realise there were similar makes!! I couldn’t see a jointed trust snaffle? Only straight bars??

That's a tricky one. I don't know the measurements of my Beris and Nathe, but the Nathe is definitely more narrow than either the Beris or Happy Mouth. From pictures it looks like Nathe is thinner than Trust too.

I use the trust ported snaffle on my very sensitive thoroughbred. She goes really nicely in it and I feel it is so much nicer in her little mouth
