I was going to Frensham on 15th but its been cancelled

Only other venue near is BRC and not been before. Would be doing the two long arena medium tests - which would obviuosly be in the outdoor, im assuming warmup is in the indoor? (as the other outdoor is tiny!)

Whats the food like (the most important thing!!)

I am there tomorrow. Was going on the 14th but it all became too much to arrange (skiving work, kids, husband to airport etc etc).

The indoor is a bit spooky - it always looks a bit dark. Tests are held outside and the school is really nice - albeit by the road and the parking tho.

Not sure on the food as we take COPIOUS amounts of our own lol.

I must admit that i am not a fan. Am desperately searching for some advanced classes to do and although they are one of the only centres wthin a three hour radius of my yard i would not attempt it. Competition arena is quite spooky, is next to a busy road where lorries are often flying past and the car park is around 3/4 of the arena so you always have people banging and crashing around as you are trying to remain semi elegant!!! The surface also gets very wet and boggy if wet or very heavy and dead if hot. Warm up is in a very small indoor school.... Please dont think i am a moaney moo but really not a place i would be in a rush to go to

You know tbh Gen is Mr Stressy Spook head and so far hasnt minded the school being near the road or the lorry parking (oh God I shouldnt be saying that as we are there tomoz

).

Its lovely and bright and open and the surface is really nice.

The lady sounds really abrupt on the phone when you call for times but is actually really nice.

Shame I wont be there - you could have some chocolate tart in mine.

I had wondered what the surface rode like, as id be doing the medium classes and im quite fussy when it comes to a good surface!! I think i might give it a miss and have a lesson with my trainer instead

Lol isnt it weird - we reckon the surface is ok and others say its poo. I think we prob dont go to such nice venues as others - maybe cos we are Novice level!

If you dont want deep and wet dont go to East Soley!

ive been to East Soley! I actually quite liked the warmup, but it was nice and dry when i went = but ive heard it gets really deep after rain! The indoor was a nightmare tho

Merrist Wood isnt far from BRC, and I know they are running alot more advanced classes these days - have you tried there?

Ah try after rain - it has lovely big puddles. The indoor is a bit spooky cos of the sunlight strips and then last time we went there was a light that kept flashing right near the door where Gen ALWAYS spooks. Grrrrr

However that said we love it there. Emma is lovely and really helpful and has been fantastic through Gens problems.

Are you too far from Burrows Court? Been there a couple of times and quite liked it.

Going there next weekend to do elementary and medium. Problem with MW is that they normally do short arena tests - which i dont do as ive got an 18hh big moving warmblood who does two strides and is at the other end of a short arena!! The weekend im going to MW tho they are doing long arena tests for once!

What level do you compete at Tempi?

I know that they are doing alot more of the long arena tests from Medium upwards

Ive been to BC loads of times

Have just moved yards tho and its too far to go from new yard. Also they generally only do medium tests during the week and i work so can only compete on weekends - im not that keen on the surfaces either!

Agree, Emma at East Soley is lovely, she was realy helpful when i went there.

Ooops - silly me - didnt read properly!!

I think they have alot more going on this summer, trying to run some more long arena stuff, and in the summer, running some long arena tests in the outdoor school too, which should be good.

elementary/medium at the moment. Hopefully adv med by the end of the summer. Im finding it hard to find venues that hold long arena medium classes on the weekends - im based at Hurstbourne which is Andover way. I go to Medstead alot as i like it there and its my nearest venue now apart frm Sparsholt.

I know that they are trying to run up to PSG once a month, starting at Medium, and will be one sat every month, so keep eyes peeled for more weekend stuff. I know the organiser there very well, and she is very keen to run more long arena Medium upwards on weekend days, as well as more prelim classes on weekends too.

I seem to find that a lot of the places round here do tests on weekdays and like you I find it difficult with work and also getting kids from school etc.

Keep meaning to get to Wellington but again most of the comps at our level are on a Monday. Cant do Mondays or no-one at work gets paid!

i love wellington - its a shame they have to have their comps on weekdays, but its because weekends are the busiest time for them as its a riding school aswell.

il be doing the elementary and medium petplans there in september tho.

Am contemplating running my advanced horses at medstead and sparsholt, am very, very fussy about surfaces, have you been to either of these. Am based in Essex o quite restricted where i can compete. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!
