Has anyone been there to do BD? As im going to be an hr from there when i move on 7th Feb and want to go there on 15th March.

Have had a look on their website and it looks like they have an indoor, a large outdoor (for the long arena tests) and another outdoor which is tiny.

So i was just wondering does anyone know which arena the warmup is in? Or do they just have one arena running and the warmup in the indoor?
 
It's really lovely, nice covered warm-up with a lovely 70 x 30 outdoor school where just one test runs. They do have a tiny outdoor school as well but it has never been in use when we have been.

Really friendly and well run. But it's worth noting that the school runs parallel with the road on one side and the lorry park on the other so it can be a bit pot luck if it gets busy when you are riding your test.
 
It's quite a small compact venue.
When I've been they just seem to use the outdoor school for the tests with warm up indoors.
The outdoor school runs the entire length of the car park so it can be a little distracting
 
I think the main difficulty people find the4e is that the car/lorry park is right next to the outdoor arena where you do your test - so it is quite possible someone will helpfully put the ramp down on their lorry just as you are in the middle of your test - or onload a horse, or generally distract you. Also, the arena runs next to the road, so you can get traffic close to you. So not ideal if your horse is easily distracted or spooky, but quite nice otherwise.....

Yup, it's a snack van. The indoor school now has a lovely warm viewing room which is great for those who tag along.

When I was there recently for a competition, the tiny outdoor school was being used by the riding school.

As others have said, the outdoor arena where tests are done is not great for horses that are easily distracted.

Nice place though and lovely, friendly staff.

Well its called part livery, but all i have to do is turn up and ride!!! Im moving here:

its going to be really odd not getting up to do the horses every morning, but the facilities are amazing and its a dressage orintated yard. And obviously Anne (the owner) is Jennie L-Cs daughter, and Hurstbourne used to be Catherston Stud.

I had a lesson at Patchetts last week and thought how much nicer it was to train on a great surface, to be bale to see your horse in the mirrors and not have the rain bucketing down on your head

I know - i cant WAIT to go somewhere with not one, but TWO indoor schools, a massive outdoor, 3mile gallop with x country fences and all proper showjumps as they hold jumping comps there too. Aswell as monthly 2day clinics with Robert Pickles!

Im really lucky going there, i still cant believe it to be honest!

Its going to be fantastic for bloss to foal there aswell.
 
Tempi, I am dreadfully jealous. That place looks fab, and I WISH there was somewhere like that around me. I think you will very quickly get used to not mucking out and having a life.

My god that place looks amazing! And having gone from DIY to part myself, you will wonder why you bothered mucking out for so many years, you can really focus on your riding, which is esp helpful when you are knackered!
 
Interestingly it does not take long to get used to the extra time in bed! You'll adapt just fine...

The best part is when you drag them out early in the morning to go competing, the bed is a [****] heap, and you know that when you get back all you have to do is put them away. That is my fave thing about being on Part livery!
 
I think im looking forwards to that bit aswell!!! Archie is filthy in his stable (typical grey gelding!) so i cant wait for someone else to have to deal with his mess

BRC is quite good, well run. But if lots of rain the competition arena can get big puddles in it!.

Have you ever been to Frensham Manor? I like it there, nice and quiet, with a little indoor cafe area with proper filter coffee and homebaked cakes

Hurstobourne is lovely, I go up there for the R.P things occaisionally. Anne is supposed to be a good trainer too.
One of our ex-staff keeps her horse up there- Claire with a nutty tb
 
I was at Burrows on saturday! i wont be going again tho, purely because i dont like the surface on the test arenas its rubber chunks with nothing else and is really difficult to ride on. I do like the venue itself tho, and it is really well run.
 
Hi Tempi - WOW lucky you - am green with envy. Expecially as its like moutaineering in the school and mud wrestling in the fields here. Getting to the point of seriously considering moving.

BRC is ok and surprisingly Gen does well enough there. He likes the fact you CAN see other horses. As said before the indoor is used for the warm up and it is a bit dark and spooky. The outdoor is near the road and the lorry park but I dont think I have ever seen a horse in a test have a real problem.

We go often so if you are hungry come over to us. We ALWAYS have a big picnic and a kettle on the go.
