Just hoping someone can help. I've seen a Berney saddle advertised locally at a good price.

IIRC people on here seem to think they are quite good, and seem to be a "magic" saddle.

Is it likely to fit a warmblood that needs a curved tree, or do they tend to be for more tb types.

It's a bit to much money to take a punt on, but too good to loose out on if likely to fit!

Berney saddles are very very good. I have never heard a bad word about them. They are hand made just out side Dublin and the company has a fantastic reputation. The Berneys have been making saddles for generations. If it fits your horse, you can't go wrong with it.

Berney saddles are well made, but I hate them. They are quite old fashioned (not necessarily a bad thing, I hasten to add) and are good for old fashioned activities (like hunting) and horses (like TB's and half bred ISH types). I find them hard in the seat, stiff and rigid for the horse and the points are quite narrow. They have, however, recently developed a new dressage saddle that looks good, but I have not had the chance to ride in one yet. Many people swear by their Berney's, just not my favourite saddles.

I don't have much experience to add, but I bought one recently (new). Didn't fit my horse at all and seemed to be asymmetrical? (if you search, you should be able to find my post with pictures). Overall I wasn't impressed with the saddle for the price. But if you're buying second hand, you'd probably do better...

I have a berney jumping saddle and Stubben GP saddle. Paid way more for the Stubben than the berney and guess which one I love riding in.. The Berney.. The Berney is just a plain black leather saddle but puts up with hard work in all sorts of weather. I don't believe in the "magic saddle" I think if the saddle fit you and your horse and you are comfortable riding in it, it doesn't matter what brand of saddle it is or how much you paid. I will say I feel I ride better in my Berney than my Stubben.
