Best 4x4 for towing and everyday driving?

*Sounds like stuck record*

Skoda Octavia Scout 2l 150 bhp manual diesel 4x4 Estate. High 40s mpg, tows to 2000kg, a real good all round drive, very comfortable and awesome tow vehicle. Takes 2 6'2" rear passengers. Done multiple 500 mile round trips to Devon recently in it, (not towing), great on motorway and equally at home on ridiculously narrow and hilly Devon lanes.

I've heard it's a good tow car. I have yeti and although I love it it just needs more ooomph

I have an ifor Williams 505 double trailer and tow a 2 yr old clydesdale with it or a heavyweight cob. Brilliant with either in.

I have VW Tiguan escape! it is brilliant for towing and for everyday travel! I get about 38/40mpg when im driving around on a day to day basis, when im not trying to be economical! and I have never had a problem towing here in the Aberdeenshire with the big steep hills etc that we have. the towing max is 2500 which is a little lower than some other 4x4's but for what you have its plenty

If you're looking at the smaller SUV market (roughly 2T towing limit) I don't think you can go far wrong with a Freelander. They tow 2T which is plenty for a 505(?) and one pony (trailer is 895kg so even if pony is 500kg that's only 1395kg, even if it's a 510 it's only 1495kg as trailer is 995kg). The later models in particular, just before they stopped making them, are very good and have lots of toys. They tow nicely and perform much better off road than their counterparts if you're planning on parking in lots of fields!

The Skoda Octavia is also a great car. My OH has one, although not the 4x4 version. It drives really nicely and has fantastic MPG - up to 50 on a good run. The 4x4 will be a little thirstier but not much I'd have thought.

We bought a VW Passat Alltrack for my towing car, hubby's everyday motorway commuting car and general family car. It has 2.2tonnes which is as good as I've found on an estate car and tows my 850kg Clydesdale in my huge Richardson trailer. I get 25mpg towing and hubby gets at least double that without.

Depends what you're towing and trailer weight. I bought. Bateson derby and downplated it. Carries one horse 550 weight. Car is Dacia duster. I only do short journeys but it's had no trouble with hills, 130 to tax, 250 to insure
