Best 4x4 to tow with

I have the 510 and tow, two 17hh middle weights using a four track. I dont even know I have them on the back!! They are cheap to buy second hand and keep going forever like a defender. I bought mine with 120,000 miles on the clock and have never looked back

I'd be really interested to know that too as I'm in the situation of choosing between a daihatsu or pajero/shogun.

I've narrowed it down to either the fourtrack 2.8tds or paj 2.8tds swb auto to tow a 440kg light cob.

Most people are telling me that the pajero is more of a rollys royce equivalent and that parts are more and maintenance is more but that's what my OH wants me to get (comfort and value for money)
I could pay the same for either vehicle and he hates the fourtrack

i really want a fourtrack but he really wants a paj/shogun

I mean i'd love a pajero/shogun but just dread to think what it would cost for its upkeep etc

interesting however i wouldn't want a 3 door again -

i've always fancied a disco, but also wondered what a toyota colorado is??

I've had my LWB 2.8 Shogun since November and absolutely love it! Wouldn't trade it for anything! I went from a Fiat Brava to it and it only took a couple of days to adjust so don't be scared of the LWB! I was also told the SWB's weren't very stable and as good to tow with.

I would totally agree that you get a lot more for you money with a Shogun, my friend who has a Disco was a bit green when she saw all the extra things that my shogun had that her Disco didn't and she paid more for it!

we tow with the ML270. which has a 2.7 litre engine which does the job perfectly and weve got no complaints about it (this is our 2nd one)

Pajeros are fab!

I've had my SWB 2.5TDI for 4 years, he's 17 this year but is as strong as an ox. I regularly tow 2 x 16.2 / 16.3 in a Ifor HB505R and truckie finds it easy, much better than my parents discovery. His only down side is that he is quite thirtsy.
I am looking for another towing vehicle now as I currently have 2 cars but need to cut back to just the one and unfortunatley truckie is just too small to be my only car but I have sold him to 2 liveries on my yard who are going to share him as a second car to tow only.
I am quite fancying a Nissan Terrano, any thoughts?
