Best 4x4?

I have a Disco.....fab for towing, you can get 6 bales in the back- just moved yards with the accumulated crap for 3 horses and the Disco did us proud- although it stinks to high heaven.

It was brill in the snow too.

Although....accelaration can be crap and it has the turning circle of a small barge.

Well, I'll throw in the Suzuki Vitara (new shape), i have the 3 dr and it's been brilliant in all the snow and ice as, with the diesel (DDIS) you get a low and high ratio gear box for it you do hit some tough terrain/reall snowing conditions. They are also sturdy and i think look nicer compared to other 4x4s out there.

Rav 4s are ok but they have been plagued with some severe problems and are much more expensive than your Vitaras, Kias, Hyundais etc. Wuth Hyundai (tucson or santa fe) you also get a lot of car for your money but I would avouid the petrol versions as they lack any power and are quite thirsty! You do get the benefit of longer warranties 5 years on Hyundai - which is always handy.

For comparisons maybe try out what car or parkers websites to see which 4x4 comes out best for what you want.

I bought a 53 plate Suzuki Grand Vitar alast year and it has been a god send! Very fair on fuel and it towed by box full tothe brim with pony and a week's supply of hay, feed, rugs and all my gear up and down some horrific hills around Exmoor! Turns well, tows well and its not heart stopping on parts or servicing. Saved me through all that ice and floods we had too - love it!
