After all the mess up with buying my youngster her first saddle I am wanting peoples opinions on the best adjustable saddle for her.

As she is only 3 I would like to buy a good saddle that will last until she stops growing hence the reason for wanting an adjustable one.

She is quite narrow infront and has quite prominant withers but other than that is a pretty normal shape.

Thanks in advance

When I first had my lad he was under weight & we knew that over the months we'd get him up to weight & he'd gradually put on topline. We decided on a Bates saddle. We've found them well made, beautiful leather & very easy to adjust with the removable gullet system they have. We've now got the GP, Close Contact & a Dressage Saddle, all by Bates. They are very smart, clean up really well & the fit is good. (It is onlt £14.95 for a different gullet so very cheap to adjust) You can change the gullet in 5 minutes both up & down so it should always fit. They are ideal for a youngster who's shape is always changing

I would buy a saddle company saddle. Not as mass produced as a wintec/bates.

I have 2 saddle co saddles and love them.

I would also consider a Thorowgood as they have a better range of saddles for different types of horses than wintecs.

Hello

I have a wintec wide for my welsh and its brilliant - I had it fitted by a saddle fitter and he was impressed - for a cheap of the peg saddle - its exellent value and after six months of use - still looks brand new - has been used for all sorts of disiplines and has not failed me!

Obviously not everyones choice but a good saddle for me!!

Pony came with a thorowgood fish saddle before I got my wintec and I wouldnt even sell it on ebay to someone else it was that bad - went straight in the bin!!!

Holistic Saddle Company saddles by Humphries and Swain have adjustable trees so can be made to fit any horse. I had one fitted for a 16.3 wide fit eventer and then re-fitted later for my skinny 16h youngster, it has since been refitted reguarly to account for his changing shape. They're excellent saddles and very reasonably priced compared to the trendy branded saddles.

Another vote for saddle company saddle!!
I love mine, its very comfortable to ride in, and easy for saddler to adjust..

Much cheaper than the WOW even though im tempted to look at one to see what the fasination about them is, as they seem to get alot of good feedback on here. Shame about the price tag though!

Would love a wow saddle. Tried one out years ago at hickstead and loved it then. Hmmmm looks like I may have to sell my car quicker than expected.

Have been trying to get a saddle company saddle ordered but the saddler that stocks them closest to me owes them money and they are in dispute so are no longer accepting orders from him. The nearest stockist to me is about 50 miles away and i'm not sure if they'll come this far. The saddle company are currently trying to organise someone more local to me to get trained up but this may take a while. However I am now very tempted to try a wow!!!

Would you consider treeless - I bought the Barefoot London for Chancer - with the girth, leathers, correct saddle pad, saddle, saddle over and postage it came to £550.

I personally love the saddle and can use it on Chancer and Cairo. Chancer will not outgrow it and they are great for youngsters. You can always get something later if you prefer conventional treed. I nearly went for the Saddle Company, but on reflection went for the Barefoot.

You can get a huge variety of treeless but don't go to cheap - Barefoot is probably the best of the cheaper models. If you want you can go up £2000 for the top end!

This is Stinky with the Barefoot. Ignore the towel - I was trying it on for the first time.
