Exactly that really, we adore our little JRT and she has the most wonderful nature and conformation - we would love pups from her and have people who would have one off us too. She's five months at the moment so I know it's not yet. However - the vet said her seasons would start at around 9 months, and said that some people have a litter before having them neutered (not sure if he actually meant at 9 months) I also have a freind who advised that dogs shouldnt have pups till 2 years old due to their pelvis or something. Really confused xxx
 
I think you're friend is sensible. I wouldn't breed from a bitch until she was at LEAST 2yrs old. Mouse's pups are 8 wks today and she's 3yrs old on the 13th June.

I wouldn't leave it much later than 4yrs for a first litter and no later than 8yrs for 2nd or 3rd litter. I also wouldn't have more than 3 litters from one bitch but that's just me, I leave at least a year between them too.

Personally, I would say not until they are at least two years old.

I know a guy who got a litter from his bitch and she isn't even a year yet

two years old is the minimum age i wouls suggest to breed from. cant believe ginaB knows someone with a litter from a bitch that is less than a year- poor thing! some people are mean! Are you going to register them with the kennel club? Im not sure of the age but i would guess they have a minimum age the bitch has to be for you to be allowed to register puppies with them.
 
I believe kennel club rules allow you to register 3 litters from a bitch between the ages of 18 months and 7 years.

Of course most JRT will not be eligable for regestration not being Parsons.
 
well pups stop growing at 18 months! so i would go for after then! thats also when they can start agility so you kno theres not going to be a prob! my pups mom was 2 when she ad her first litter she had 9
