Unfortunately my Mountain Horse riding boots have unfortunately not survived the winter due to extreme neglect on my part :p anyway I am now on the market for a suitable replacement, with a budget of around £100.

I have decided that this time around I would prefer brown boots (I have black boots and gaiters as spares for competing anyway) and quite like the look of both the Toggi Calgary and Canyon.. though one is more of a country boot style and not sure if it is strichtly speaking suitable for riding - is it sturdy enough to ride in? How are Toggi boots fitting wise / are they hardwearing enough if well-looked after?

Any other suggestions are welcomed!

I have the Calgary and love them. Didn't take any breaking in comfortable from the start. Only criticisms relate to the zip up the back. This makes them very easy to get in and out of which is great but the leather pulling tabs on the zips came off in my hand within days. Also after a winter of hard (daily) wear the stitching at the side of the zip is slightly coming apart and I fear that stepping in a large puddle may cause wet feet. I can't confirm this due to the unusually clement weather in recent weeks!

Excellent - yeah I managed to break off the (metal) tab on the zip on my last boots which was a bit of a pain in the bum, but hey ho I managed okay without it (just about!).

Thanks for the advice!

No help on boot suggestions, but a zip tip. Loop a paper clip through the zip and then cover the paperclip in electrical tape. Use quite a lot of tape to hold the paperclip together

I wouldn't go for the Calgarys, the stitching around the zip goes very quickly and they wear very poorly. I got a pair of Toggi Canyons in May and so far so good :) They are very comfy; I ride in them but only for pottering about as I find them a bit bulky for schooling.
